First I prefer the old American waffle with the snall squares.
They are hard to find.
What is So special about the Waffle maker that flips over?
They cook on both sides same as the ones that do not flip. They also take more storage space. Seam to cost a little more.
Plus more to clean up.

I'll keep my General Mills which has been in the family for many years and still turns out the best waffles.

The ones that flip over distribute the batter more evenly. We just got a new Belgium maker by B&D it is great.

After more than 30 years we finally replaced our old one with a Cusinart for about 30 dollars. Works perfectly and I exect it to last the rest of my life.

My son wanted a waffle iron similar to the one we have (and have had for probably 40 years). The closest I could find was a Black & Decker model G48TD which I found on Amazon.
Old style square unit, small holes, teflon coated reversable plates so you can use it like a sandwich press or a griddle.

Thank you
Best waffle maker was an old one we had. Was made before teflon non stick.
Been looking at the B&D waffle maker. Have been looking at reviews on line.
We have two different taste at home.
Me I like them golden brown with a little crisp to them.
DW likes them under cooked ( as I tell her) Soft and pale looking.

Up until last year, we had two. We had a Cuisinart in the house and a Black and Decker in the TT. The B&D died after 4 years but the Cuisinart (which gets far more use) is still going strong after 7+ years.

B&D for us. We are on the second one. The teflon wore away to the point that the waffles would stick. It is about the only one out there that still has the smaller, thinner squares, not Belgian. We bought ours at B&D outlet store for $45.

DW bought a Gourmet Best from Walmart and it makes the round ones. Never has had a problem with sticking and they come out perfect.

I have a Cuisinart for about 10 years. Love it. Keeps chuckin out the waffles.
I like the Krusteaz Buttermilk mix with a little cinnamon and little allspice. Throw on a little maple syrup and a gob o' butter and a couple strips of BACON and I am a happy camper!!!
