A can of black olives will cure what ails ya, or at least move it on down the line

Mix a little mustard with the mayo for some added zip-then throw in some diced pickles. Adds alot of zip to the sandwich.

My personal favorite: Very dark bread (round,if possible), spreadable cheese (in the jar), sliced green pimento olives on top. Mmmmmm. If we are day-tripping, we take bread, knife & the jar of cheese goes in my small cooler with ice & beverage. I don't mess with the olives in this case. We love finding very interesting places to have our "lunch on the go"

Cream cheese and (green olive) on rye or a bagel.

Black olives, cheddar, crumbled bacon, chopped green onion, mayo, broiled on cocktail rounds or English muffins. Or stuffed in a mushroom cap and broiled.

Olive tapenade: black olives, green olives, roasted red pepper, garlic, fresh parsley, lemon juice, EVOO, pulse in food processor til diced. Serve with pita wedges.

I used to make those, then it was a slice of bread, spread the cheese and put on the olives - now I can't deal with the salt so they are off the menu.

But I loved them with a cup of coffee.

Thanks for a reminder, it just made my first cut for one of my Super Bowl appetizers.

A family favorite for years is chopped black olives added to egg salad. Serve spread on dark rye bread with thinly sliced red onion & romaine lettuce--yummy!
