I moved from Florida to Tennessee, one of the few things I miss is my diesel mechanic at the dealership, the man knows his stuff. Not that I had to use his services a lot, but at least when I had a problem, he could fix it instead of feeding me a ration of Shinola.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Well when you produce all the trucks Ford does these few are just a small percentage having problems.....
Without going into a full page does that resemble some posts we had to read a while back? I'm sure glad you can take a bit of a ribbing, thus no quotes from me.
At least Ford stood behind the 6.0, 6.4's.
Hope the 6.7 "stinger engine" is a limited event because ten years of problem childs would surely convince even the biggest Kool-aid drinkers their money might be better spent.
Hey Slate you can change your user name with good reason and keep your status.
Believe me you have a great reason
Maybe Mrduramax or sooperkia LOL

There has to be internal memos flying around insurance companies all over the Country about this. I was frankly surprised that they would cover such an event in the first place, but I bet they wont be for long. 10-15K per fix is a significant claim.

Rick I read the whole thread on the TX truck, Somthing realy stinks here as it did with your problem. I don't believe for 1 minute that a hand full of engens going down out of the mass numbers in service is any reason to get alarmed. The problem I have is what if it is my engine is this how I will be treated, I certainly hope not. I also think it is the dealers in both cases in question that muddied the water for a fair evaluation of what happened and why. From what I have read in both cases FMC has a seriouse problem with its warrenty policy as far as dealer input and decisions on what is and is not warrentable as well as cause and effect that cannot be overturned by a FMC service rep. In our business we have ran every F series diesel's Ford has offered from the IHC built 6.9, 7.3, Navistar built 6.0 6.4 and the 6.7 Ford built, all without measurable problems. I am a Ford man and if what I am reading is true I agree with you 100% shame on Ford. I wonder if a group of owners could pressured Ford into investigating the dealers in question.
I dont rent out space in my brain

I think I still have an extra set of keys sitting around for the Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins I traded in for my 2011 Ford 6.7L.
You think the folks in Ohio who bought my old truck would mind waking up with a 2011 Ford in their driveway????????
Nah, probably NOT a good idea.
Posts like these, I'm starting to really miss that old Dodge.

Anyone have real numbers on the quantity produced vs numbers of repairs, on the major brands ??
Would be interesting to see if we have any stand outs based on hard facts.
Seems kinda crazy to take a couple instances where Ford dealerships have screwed over owners and judge all Ford vehicles by those few instances.
I do honesty believe Ricatic got a raw deal but I would have to think the dealership screwed him from the start and shame on Ford for not stepping up BUT to judge all these trucks based on a few problems doesn't seem right either. In fact it almost appears ignorant.
It would be like finding a bad ear of corn in the middle of the corn field and then saying the whole field is bad... just doesn't make sense and anyone with common sense would question the logic.
And just because I don't agree and am not going to jump on the Ford sucks bandwagon which is on parade here, don't even start the junk about drinking the Ford koolaid. I own one Ford and one Chevy currently and in the past I have owned more Chevy than Ford vehicles. I have zero brand loyalty but common sense has to come into play here somewhere.
I do agree with SHAME ON FORD for not taking care of it's customers !

So what's Ford NEW diesel engine going to look like? Seems it's their best way to sweep these problems under a rug.

Perhaps a Duramax or Cummins.

The instances of failure doesn't really matter. What is at issue is Ford not standing behind their product. There will always be dealer issues and human error. But setting a policy that does not allow for Ford to over ride decisions and correct mistakes when they happen is the issue.
Ford took a bath on the 6.0 warranties and the 6.4 has had issues to a lesser degree.
Ford has taking a stand to eliminate major warranty claims on 6.7's by simply denying claims in a smoke and mirrors fashion. Once again the bean counters rule and the loyal customer suffers.
Shame on Ford!
