I want to put a window awning on the rear window of my 5vr but the ladder overlaps the window enough to prevent that from happening.
Any suggestions?

How often do you use the ladder? Do you have another ladder that will do the job? We installed an awning that interferes with a side window when closed. It isn't a problem for us. Only you can decide. Plugging the holes and appearance afterwards is only an issue if you make it one. Good luck.

..I'd be afraid a window awning or shade on the back of an RV, due to the major vacuum/'suction' back there when on the road, would be prone to billowing out and getting torn up. I always figured that was why you never see window awnings on rear windows. I could be totally wrong on that one, though.
The sun shade the previous poster linked to, might would work..

I doubt that you want to rework your ladder...but I've seen toy haulers that have the ladder that stores on the back...but can be fastened to the rear side when set-up. That allows them to open the rear ramp. You could extend your rear awning... It would probably be an expensive upgrade...but if it does the job neatly --- might be worth it to you??

Our Allegro Bus has a ladder that only comes down part way, and then a second section hooks to the lowest step. This allows us to fully open the engine compartment access door. The lower part of the ladder is kept in the basement.
Take a good look at some Class A's and see if that approach might work. You'll probably have to get it custom made, but if you need it, you need it.
Good luck.

don't know what other suggestion you could want other than to take the ladder off. they're pretty useless in most cases anyway since having them probably causes more roof damage than hail storms

I am over 300 pounds, the standard RV ladder is rated about half that. I tore mine off and added a pair of "J" hooks and a shower "Assist" bar to the back of the RV (you can put this most anywhere out of the way)
The convertable (Step/Extension) ladder I hang on the hooks is way stronger (250 rated 500 capable) and holds my weight no sweat, it is long enough to use as a roof ladder, easier to mount/dismount/climb and doubles as a step ladder when I wash and wax.
That said. where you;'d hang it on your trailer I don't know.
But there are other ladders like the Little Giant that can usually be stuffed in the basement, The Little Giant can be used as a straight ladder (ROOF ladder) Step Ladder or scaffold (Even better for wash/wax in many cases)
You might consider it. Or one of it's competitors.

My parents have an awning on the back of their motorhome......the ladder is on one side and the window is on the other......their motorhome is a 1999 model and the awning was put on when new......they've been to Alaska in it and to the east coast several times from California.....never once has it billowed out while being driven......
I would love to have one on the back of mine but like the OP...the ladder is in the way.......but, I'm not interested in reworking the ladder......
