Ordered new XPS Ribs today for my fifth wheel. (Everest 323P 13000 pounds.) Four tires 235's new steel valve stems, mounted and balanced, fee for disposal of the old tires...which are the same exact tires exactly five years old. Total $1423.00. Pricey, but they are good.

Hi,
I bought a pair of them in 2007 for $157 each at Wal Mart. Now they are $351 each, plus mounting and balance. What a change, I guess they are mostly oil based products to build the tires, and transportation costs went way up too, on supplies going to the factory as well as supplies leaving the factory to the local distributor.
Change - I know it happened here.

I work for a company that uses carbon black in some of our processes and it is on allocation as demand is exceeding supply and driving cost in addition to the other oil based resins and chemicals. Randu

Don't forget that there is heat input into the manufacturing process. As the cost of energy goes up, so does the cost to put all of the raw materials together.

I tow with more confidence since I installed the same tires on my RV after two flat tires in two years with the original Goodyear tires.

Have had the ribs on mine now for 3 1/2 years. Great tires. 10,000+ miles and still look new.

Just be glad they didn't lower the price by moving production to China!

Just reading about this tire as it has been mentioned before and raved about. It says that this is a summer tire and shouldn't be used near or below freezing or on ice/snow covered roads.
Does this bother anybody that currently owns them or have you had any negative cold weather experience with them?

zak21, The Michelin XPS is made in 2 tread designs: The XPSrib, which is a ribbed highway design and would be about the same as any other ribbed tire on wet, ice/snow covered roads. Don't know where the 'shouldn't be used near or below freezing' came from. I suspect that is one person's opinion.
It is also made in the XPStraction design, which is a more aggressive tread design and should be good on wet/freezing/snow-packed roads.
