I bet that puppy tent plan you have works pretty well though. LOL
I hope it does or I will be forced to fire up our old Champion 3500/4000 to drown out the yapping.
There are other measures. We keep a 10x20 tent in the truck for emergency back up, a guest house or even a roomier place to be on rainy days. It is also very handy at filling a clearing up. It and a few lawn chairs say move on this area is full.

Good Campground Etiquette should also mean dogs shouldn't run free dropping dog bombs hither and yon.
It would sure be courteous if dog owners leaving a campsite would make sure there are no very unpleasant surprises for the next campers.
It also surprises me at the number of dog owners that think leash rules don't apply to their dog.
Leash laws comfort non dog owners please think of us as well.
Sorry I just had to get it off my chest. Enjoy your dog.
I have to agree.
The wildlife where we go includes bear, cougar, bobcat, packs of coyotes, porcupine and skunk. Let your pets run free at your own risk.
Any animal that comes into the camp and threatens us or the dogs are treated equally and swiftly.
As far as cleaning up after them, lets also include cigarette butts, water bottles, cans, bottle tops etc. We end up spending time cleaning up each area we are in because we just don't like to see it.
I can't remember the last time we walked around a lake and didn't see tangles of line, hooks and sinkers. Bait containers and gear packaging as well as cans and cigarettes are in the brush.
People that target practice must thing those spent casings are going to decompose too. They tend to stand there shooting at targets and walk away leaving a pile of them where they stood.
The list goes on and on so please pick up after yourself. You may not mind looking at it but others do.
BTW I am not implying anyone here would act in such a manner.

that is MY biggest pet peeve about Quartzsite. I am currently camped out in the Polosa campsite area....and...we just pulled in. A loud generator is running as I type.

I guess we won't be moving as my husband isn't bothered by it.
*shrug*
I don't get how he can't hear this.
*sigh*
I think paying $$$ for an RV park is better. At least I don't hear generators.
so glad for this thread that I can vent in.
People are rude *sigh*

My understanding is that there are endless choices when it comes to site selection. We probably won't be going back anytime soon but I just have to see it at least once.
Well, we would have had to move about 5 times so far, the generators are pretty loud lol
As far as endless choices...it's pretty crowded at this moment. I hope you have a good experience and campsite. It's fun going to all the gem and mineral shows...and swap meet stuff. It's almost like a state fair...lots of food...BBQ smells All told, with the frustration of noise, I'll still want to come back next year

so, it's 9:40 pm. The loud generator's still going.
I'm getting prepared to start my truck (diesel..and loud)
when his generator goes off

I seriously can't sleep when it is like I am in a Walmart parking lot, or a rest stop with a bunch of semi's going.
I think the "just move" idea doesn't work for me.
Yeah. We're all set up and we're just going to pull up stakes at 10 pm and find another spot.
I think people just should be more considerate of others.

I always hear "oh, MY dog stays with me..he doesn't need a leash"
When we were at our previous spot in Polosa, there was a few trailers with jeeps. They were shooting out behind our camp. There are a whole ton of orange pieces of whatever they were shooting..not sure what they are called. It looks bad. People are so rude and inconsiderate. They left...and the orange things are still laying all over the ground....

I just move. Simple. If I want peace and quiet I go to a spot where I am most likely to get it. Some one comes and parks beside me??? I just move.

Those "orange things" were clay birds (skeet), small round targets that nearly disintegrate when shot and after the first rain they will be little more than dust and the orange goes away as well. If out of the "City limits" and done with a modicum of safety they were probably perfectly legal and having a lot of fun. If you were there first they should have asked or at least explained what they were going to do.
We just returned from Quartzite, we were at Scaddan Wash, and the local authorities were busily writing tickets to anyone with a dog off leash. The ticket was $75 with another $24 in court costs/fees. One guy got one for allowing his dog to run, unleashed, from his truck to the trailer, all of about 10 yards.
Over all our experience was 100% positive as everyone we met was polite and friendly. Never saw a scrap of trash anywhere and did not hear a single generator. I know folks were running them out of necessity but with everyone spread out the only noise we heard was from I-10 about 500 yards to the north and only when the wind was from that direction. Can't wait to go back!

(ETA thank you for all the ideas and posts!) Sorry I haven't been back on this thread, as I don't get on the internet much as we're busy exploring Yuma. I am beginning to think "boondocking" isn't for me. We're in Yuma now.....the luck of the draw we're camped next to some homeless people. How they get away with this on BLM land, I'll never know. They have two dogs and they are pooin' all over the place (I might report them tomorrow when we leave...yet, again, to find a spot we like) I thought you had to be self contained. but, anywho. Wherever we've been looking (the LaPosa sites, and all the other areas) there have been wall-to-wall RV's. The "day use only" area is empty, but rv's are backed up to them all over. WHERE do you go to be alone? *shrug* Every place we camped, whether HiJolly, or Plomosa, we heard loud generators. We drove around extensively during the day to all the campspots, and they were all crowded with trailers. Not sure where you camp where you don't hear anything lol
