I backup the whole drive and partitions with EaseUs ToDo free backup on an external drive. That way if anything happens to the hardrive even , it's a quick fix. I even quickly swapped my hardrive for my son's drive because he needed my larger one , and it went over just perfect for both laptop computers, they booted like nothing happened.

That is one of the Reasons that I use a Sandbox program. With it, nothing is saved to my Hard drive when I am online. When I get off the Net, I delete the Contents of the Sandbox and my Computer system is the same as it was before I got online.

God Bless!

X2 Those facebook twitters etc that seem to attract the youngins are just teaming with that stuff especially if she has clicked to "add" all her friends/followers to her contacts. Check her contact list I bet you will see hundreds of email address'.

I don't have a facebook account or anything like that and somehow all these strange contacts appear on my computer AND they send emails with links that are virus's that don't get caught.

Do you have link for where to get that? Sounds like a 'great' idea to stay clean. I am going to buy another computer because mine is so clogged up.

www.Sandboxie.com. Also, Chrome browser uses built-in sandbox technology.

Sandboxie sounds interesting. Looks simple enough to use.

My wife used to give me $1.00 each workday for lunch. After a long argument, I won. Now she gives me $5.00 every Monday.

You can use the free version as long as you like. Another thing that I use is Keyscrambler. Keyscrambler protects you against keyloggers. I am currently using both as I type this.Keyscrambler is not free, but it is very reasonable. It can be found at www.qfxsoftware.com. I hope this helps.

Of course I also have Antivirus, Firewawall, antispyware, and I also use the free VPN, Hotspot shield when I use a wifi Hotspot. Altogether, between all of these Things, I think I am about as safe as possible.

Thanks for the info! This forum supplies far better tech info than any search on google!

It's real obvious that stuff gets thru the standard protection when you buy a new computer and don't surf all is fine. Then get on the internet and bit by bit by bit your computer starts slowing down and crashing.

It's pretty sad when we as the consumer have to constantly look for software to protect us when the computer companies should be SUPPYLING us with that when we purchase the darn computer.

Out to buy a new computer, add sandbox and try this all over again!

Just remember: Antivirus is good at catching existing stuff. However "0-days" are common and will not be caught by any utility out there. Usually this infection occours through a website's ad server since there are unscrupulous ad companies who will offer criminals the ability to push their code and attempts at cracking browsers or add-ons. The nefarious thing is that the hackers who do this can limit their attack to IP ranges at different times, so it becomes incredibly hard to trace.

This is why you want software that blacklists IPs and sandbox software. AV software is the last resort, and with the ton of 0-day attacks against IE and Windows, it is next to useless.
