I am about to purchase my first Generator for our Komfort! I am looking at the ef3000isebj Inverter Gas Yamaha, offered by Wise Equipment. Low noise 52-53 decibel, perhaps much more running a load. I could go higher power more expensive, but not sure I will need to use all that capacity. I have a tendancy to overkill everything per DW! Looking to own my first Gen, I have seen too many cheaper units (including one I have been using) chase me off by the noise. Also I need the clean pure sine power cause of TVs and computers I must have with me. We only have one AC and not sure I would ever stay where I would use it dry camping. DW thinks i will never dry camp! Any thoughts or current user imput? Wise offered a great price for this model, including remote start. Also thinking of using it from truck bed of my F450. It's too heavy to move in and out, and I can secure it in the truck! Thoughts, musings, opinions are always appreciated!

Mike,
Nice rig. If you have a 15K air conditioner then the Yamaha is needed. I have a 13.5K and my twin Honda 2000's work fine, and Yamaha makes a nice 2000 also that you can parallel.
Have Fun.

If you are not going to use the AC, a 2KW would do the job. You could get the Honda Companion as it has the trailer plug on it.

If you think you are going to need AC you need at least the 3KW Yammy. I would think a rig like yours might have 15K BTU and not 13.5.

Still 3000s are nice (some people get the Bolie's; looks just like the Yammy, way cheaper and in red) and with remote start you can power up the RV's AC before you get to the rest stop.

I have the Cummins/Onan, Subaru 4300 it will start up the 15K AC on the unit and I can run either the HW heater or the microwave at the same time. It's a bit louder and heavery then the Yamaha at 62db and 163 lbs but I was able to get a great deal from Costco a couple of years back at half what I could get the Yamaha at. You are very unlikely to find it at that price but it may be less than the Yahama and it's a nice unit. I run it in my truck bed with a HD RV extension cord.

They also make a 3200 unit that is a closer match to the Yahama.

We've had the Yamaha your considering since 2005. It will run our 15,000 btu A/C for over 11 hours in 90 plus temps on one tank of gas. It will also run lights, TV and frig. at same time. If you try to run microwave, electric skillet, hair dryer, etc. at same time it will overload and trip out. So you just have to shut off a/c if you need to run another high draw item.

We keep in back of truck bed and usually run it from here.

Personally, I'm glad we spent the money for a good unit. Honda will be similar. Can't offer an opinion on the others.

Only maintenance during ownership has been oil changes, one air filter, and a spark plug each year.

Great info everyone! Yes, we have 15000 btu AC as several have suggested. Seldom run AC and everything at once, but good to know it should run on the unit if needed. I am open to any and all comments! Thank you keep it coming ....

I have a YG2800i, I have had no trouble with it. It is light enough I can put it in the pick up alone, and I'm not that strong. It will run the 13.5 air and the microwave at the same time. Not sure how it would handle an electric hot water heater, but I use gas for the fridge and hot water. We watch movies on the laptop if need be while in the boonies. Actually about the only time we ever use the Yamaha is at dinner time while cooking indoors and it's hot outside. DW wants her aircon while she's at the stove, and we like to eat in a cooler atmosphere. I'm sure you will like that generator.

I have had the 3000iseb and now have a pair of EF2000is yamahas. The 3000 was a pain to load in my truck, even using ramps. Once it was in, it had plenty of power to run everything and the build quality was impressive, as was the noise level. The remote start is worth the $300 or so the dealer may charge.
My pair of 2000is generators are louder than the 3000 while wound up running the Air Conditioner. They are easier to move and just as well made. They hold less gas though I can rig up an aux. tank for them. It's nice to only have to take one when I don't need the AC. Out of both, I would prefer the 3000 with remote start over my brace of 2000's for the remote start function, the longer run time, the ease of maintainance (1 oil change/air filter instead of 2). The hassle of loading it is worth the capability of waking up in the cold morning, firing up the generator and making breakfast, all without putting my shoes on.

I have the other alternative, the Yamaha 2400is. It runs the 13.5 AC and about everything else, the microwave will kick it out with the AC running. Very quiet, can't go wrong with either red or blue.
