My 1998 Four Winds Class C Motorhome propane tank is too small & does not come out. Is there a adapter and hose that I could hookup to a small external tank, (like you would use on your grill)?

In many areas, depending on where, you can get a 120 gallon propane tank brought out and connected to your MH or TT. We had one delivered several years ago when we were parked in Wyoming and needed something so we didn't have to run to town every day to buy propane.

Both solutions are spot on. If the MH is in one spot, I'd see about a large tank put nearby and a schedule set to refill it.
If you are boondocking, I'd spring for an Extend-A-Stay kit, hook up a dual tank propane regulator, and hang two 20# bottles from that.

I made a longer hose from my tank to the coach. It is long enough to connect to an external tank. When it runs out, I connect to the coach tank while I get the empty portable tank filled. The same would work with a larger tank if you had a truck that would come out.

I use the extended stay with a 30 lb. tank. Too expense to have it delievered where I'm at. I have been using one of these for the last 6 years on 2 different rigs. Takes less than 10 minutes too install.

I too recommend the Extend-a-Stay or the competing product by Mr. Heater I believe, it is called Stay-A-While. both, near as I can tell, are 1st quality products, I actually USE an extend-a-stay on this motor home and I can tell you it's come in handy a couple of times already.
Work great and unlike some "home brew" concoctions I've seen no chance of venting propane (Beyond what is in the hose and that you do any time you change tanks on a trailer.)

When I put in the longer hose, I put a ball valve right at the end to prevent air entering he line and venting of propane. I probably vent less propane than I would if I used an Extend a Stay or similar.
