I just heard that Family RV has moved out.........The only remaining dealer, McMahons RV is currently packing up as well as the El Toro RV service and parts store......The Traveland website is down.......the cafe is all closed up......

I hear it's pretty much a ghost town in there now........anyone been there lately?

I hate to see that place go....Years ago, We have spent many hours walking around there on many Saturday afternoons......dreaming of one day owning our own RV......

That's a pretty prime piece of property right off the I5 Freeway in Irvine....it won't be long before it gets snatched up...if it hasn't been already! Richard Shinn is the owner of the property that used to be the largest all in one RV sales center in the Western United States.

Traveland used to a fun place to stroll around, sometimes for hours looking at all the new RV's. We went there as kids with our parents, and later brought our kids to run around chasing the chickens, and the big "pond" with the grist mill added a country feeling to it!

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the land had sold, I don't remember what's going in there.
I drove by there today and from the freeway it looked like there was still quite a few units there, some where rentals.

Lots of - "Looking".

"Priced" my first (new) 1974 Terry TT there - but bought it elsewhere for considerably less.

Traveland was *always* high overhead for dealers & reflected in their pricing.

Steady decline over the years.

My 36 year old daughter tried to "drink" the pond in Sooper's pic when she was about two years old.

I miss OCIR lots more than I will Traveland.

We drove thru in early December, you could blow a cannon in there and not hit anything. Lots of toy haulers, very few motorhomes. Some years ago, during a gas crunch, there were ultralight dealers, boat dealers, used car dealers, etc but not now. Pretty sad.

I drove down there after droping a U-Haul in Modesto around the late 90's to look at a new Alfa toy hauler. The place seemed busy then.

They have been talking for some time about putting an RV Resort in there. If I remember correctly, there was a booth at the Pomona RV show for the resort.

I remember that, probably 8-10 years ago.

That would be way to logical! Not much of any where to camp close to there either. I would expect the property is too expensive or the rates would be so high that a park would not survive.

To bad but like others I miss OCIR more than I will Traveland.
