I don't think anyone should expect to win this discussion. We all like what we like and that is what makes camping so great. Once you find what works for you, stick with it. It is so easy to find fault with another style rig and all the pluses of the one we have. I have done TT, Class C and A.. Never had a 5th wheel mostly because I didn't own a tow vehicle and I could not afford both that and the trailer. So, for us, used motorhomes work, but I fully appreciate the good things about everything else. (Well, at my age, I'm not sure I would do well with a tent.

If I did not have a need in my past or current business a need for a heavy truck, we would have switched from towable to mh.
As others have said for short stays & on road convenience, set up ease a mh has its virtues.
For longer stays and more storage, more living space, towables win. Less convenient on the road, or to set up.
The economics of maintenance & depreciation are a factor to consider.
Weigh your travel style against economics & your style, apologize to no one nor judge them.

We went from a 37` 5er to a 30` class C after the 5er pushed my GMC Duramax dually through a stop light in Delaware and just about hit a Perdue chicken 18 wheeler. NEVER felt like I could stop adequately and getting into state campgrounds was a problem. Now feel much more in control even when we use a tow tolly and pull our PT Cruiser. Only problem is we have had alot of quality issues with this unit (Thor Chateau 28Z). Still glad we changed however. Too bad I don`t have the Duramax diesel in this rig.

Hmmm, back into the slot, push button to drop front jacks, disconnect hitch and pigtail, pull truck ahead, push "Auto" button on Bigfoot leveler. By the time I get water and electric hooked up the rig is level and solid.
Usually don't bother to unload the car for one or two night stays, just use the truck.

This is amusing. I have a 5ver.
I pull in. Lower the front legs enough to take the weight off the hitch. Disconnect the power and unlatch the hitch and drive away.
Next I hit the auto button on the leveling system which ALWAYS gets it right. Hook up water, sewer, and power.
Oh, I also add a whole lot of sqft by running out the slides so I am nice and comfy.

Alright, who has the best spouse? Debating that has about as much merit as debating which type RV is the best. We have had a tent, a travel trailer, A's, and a C. I seriously considered a smaller 5'er (pull it with my pickup and get rid of the C and Honda Fit - but my wife would have divorced me and kept the Fit).
I have thought a lot about the good and bad of each. I do not think anyone can make the selection for anyone else. We are all unique and what fits one of us does not necessarily fit another's preferences and needs. I cannot even agree with myself.
My suggestion is to get all the information you can and make your own decision. Whatever you do, do not think what fits for another will fit for you. Even with the right decision today, you may find that age and circumstances change that.
Good Luck

Hey all you 5th wheel guys-
Why not give the O.P. a break from the "it's so easy my Grandma could do it" stuff.
He isn't trying to make a decision...he's sorry about a decision he already MADE!
That's why he posted here in the Class C section of the Forums- it's not like he weighed in to the 5th Wheel Forum to give everybody a bad time...
As for whose is better, the answer is.... MINE!

Yep - whatever rings your chimes!
Had TTs, MHs. slide-in camper, 5th wheel.
They all did what I wanted them to do.
Never regretted a/the choice(s).
Could set up rapidly or slowly - depending on the "need for speed".
Too bad the OP made (for him) a bad choice!.
Maybe it will go better next time.

Yup you just have to deal with it now.
Me...I'll take the 5ver. Don't have to deal with all the expense of an additional engine, transmission, drive axle etc.
I use my my puller as a 2nd vehicle.
