Guys,
Planning a family trip to Myrtle Beach, SC in June. I'm sure some of you have been there. Looking for feedback on the campgrounds. Pirateland Oceanfront looks nice. Basically want a nice campground that's close to the beach and golf.
Thanks in advance.

I'd prefer the State Park vs. the private campgrounds. Have been in both. Each their own.

Lakewood first choice. Like Ocean Lakes except for their lack of enforcing laws restricting the use of golf carts. They allow kids to use them...there are a couple hundred running around hap hazardly. I was hit by one driven by a 9 year old at night when SC law says you need a drivers license except when being used on a golf course.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park (clicky) on the north end of town or Ocean Lakes on the south end.
MBTP is right on the beach and is next to 3 different GCs. It has both open and shaded sites.

Lakewood has three churches on site. Its right on the beach with two pools. I used to go there around easter. It might be on the cold side this time of year.

Ditto on the State Parks. I prefer Huntington Beach, a few (11?) miles south in Murrels Inlet, to Myrtle Beach SP but they are both nice. MB has WiFi and a really nice laundry. Both have good beach access and some FHU sites. Some sites at MB can be a little tight due to inconveniently place trees.

Willow Tree in Longs, SC and the KOA south of 501 are the only RV parks that aren't beachfront. I've stayed at Ocean Lakes and it was fine, but I wasn't there when school was out, so I didn't have a problem with kids and golf carts. Ocean Lakes also owns Prestwick Golf Club and you can get tee times in the office, as well as a discount if I remember correctly. And every place is close to golf. The
Myrtle Beach Golf Assn. web site will tell you everything you want to know about all the courses in the area. The good, bad and ugly. I've played many of them over the years, and I agree with their reviews. There's over 100 courses in the area. They also review restaurants in the area. If they don't like it, they'll tell you why. Again, very accurate.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Good info so far guys....keep it coming Also wanted to mention that we'll have 4 kids with us ranging from 1 yr to 9 years old. We of course want to go somewhere that will keep them busy and having fun as well so let me know if anyone prefers one CG over the other based on kids alone. Thanks again!!!!
