I have a 2010 Sunseeker 3170DS. Overall I am happy with it except for one thing....the rear slide leaks at the front corner. I think it is due to the way it is made. The slide has the rails on the sides with gear type motors to drive it in and out. I think the water is leaking in on the rails or somewhere near them. I have had this thing in to the dealer three times and it still is not fixed. The first was under warranty. The second was just out of warranty and just out of the 90 day repair window from the first time it leaked, so I had to pay for that one. The third time was within the 90 day window of the 2nd repair, so the dealer covered it. During the third repair, I contacted the slide manufacturer myself and told them what was going on. The manufacturer's rep asked me to have the technician call him directly so he could instruct him on how to fix it. I did that and they knew the manufacturer's rep from previous dealings, so no problem there. They fixed it and I was on my way. Well here I am again, packing for a trip wiping water off the floor at the corner of the slide. It stays in a covered storage area, so it does not get rained on often, but it seems that everytime I am packing for a trip, it rains and leaks.....AGAIN. I am getting frustrated to the point that I don't want to camp in it because it might rain. The service department at the dealership is very helpful to me and I have purchased my last three rigs from them. I don't want to jeopardize my relationship with them since I am in this rig (and with their service department) for the long haul , but I am tired of having to bring it back for the same thing. What would you do? I am tempted to ask them to work with me on trading it for a unit without the slides with the rails on them. Does anyone else have this type of slide and do you have this problem? What did you do to fix it? Thanks for your help.

Is there any chance that installing a slideout awning would protect the area that leaks?

It already has a slideout awning. The awning stops about three or four inches past the slide.

We have a Forester DS which and the back slide leak after a driving rain. The problem is that only leaks when the slide is pulled in. The dealer has had the rig in the shop and still cannot figure it out. They have replaced the window seal, and the slide seal, no help. Good luck!

I would see if your dealer (who seem to be vey good at customer service!) would split the cost with you of a Sealtech Test. The unit will be pressurized and then a glycerine spray will be applied to the exterior, bubbles will show up indicating where the leak is. Then the repairs can focus on that area with either more seals, or adjustments to the slide.
Usually right around $100.00, so if the dealer is a nice guy, you might have to only pony up 50 bucks! Good luck!
Bubble shows leak...

I'd be finding a new dealer if you take things in for repair and they never get repaired but you have to pay to have them RE-do their jobs. He's probably on LEGAL sound ground but sure wouldn't keep ME as a customer doing that kind of work. The slide has been leaking ever since it was still under warranty and has obviously never been properly repaired and he still collects money for doing nothing to help you. Not jeopardizing my relationship with that sort of dealer would be the last concern.

this is how things end up in court. the dealer cant repair it, and, i would bet the manufacturer hasnt heard of the problem, other than one claim sent in. usually the factory wont accept a second claim for the same problem, so the dealer doesnt bother to submit any more claims for that problem.
if it was mine, i would gather all the documentation i could, call the manufacturer and ask for an appointment with their regional service rep. he can solve this. even if the factory doesnt know about it, they can still be held liable for the damage. been there done that

I have had a couple of leaks on my Forest River Lexington. Both were from a very poor job of clauking. One was on the front side of the driver's side slide out. It first appeared to be coming from the slide out but it turned out to be the clauking! Another leak was around the stove vent. At this point I have reclauked half of rig! The problem with dealers is that they are no better than the tech that works on your rig. The factories push the rigs out of door & expect the customer to find the problems. Hard to find a dealer with a good tech to fix all problems! We customers pay the price!

In Florida 3 times for the same problem = "Lemon". Under the lemon Law you go to arbitrator and could get your money back on the vehicle! Not just the repairs. I would be on the phone to the manufacturer and become a real pain in the A$$! They may be in a position to get it right for you.

The dealer is closed until after the holidays, but I will post any news as I get it. I don't want to take it to the next level unless I have to. I just want it to be fixed right and a little peace of mind knowing that it won't leak the next time it rains on it. I am putting together all of the paperwork from each repair and some pictures of what the repairs looked like in case I need it at a later date. Thanks for all the replies so far. I am still curious to know if anyone has actually "fixed" the problem with this type of slide and what the fix was.
