http://travel.usatoday.com/destinations/........-top-campgrounds-and-rv-resorts/588471/1

While the list seems to have been compiled from the votes of people who live in the East, or Eastern Midwest, thought the article might be of some interest. The author doesn't really "get" RVing and refers to us as a bunch of campers while poking fun at those who use WiFi (instead of "getting away from it all"). While I can't speak for the quality of the parks that won, it seems that the one thing the author got right is that most of us want good WiFi.

Edited to fix URL to clickable. Sorry.

CLICKY

It sure would have been nice if they had put a link to ALL of the CGs....after all, they mentioned the top-12. Ironically, the photo is of a CG that they say got top marks, and is in CA....so it's not just the East Coast that is being represented. Guess we have to wait until after the first of the year.

A few folks from the left coast seem to be taking offense from the number of East Coast CGs with high ratings.....it could very well be, that the folks out west were out having to good a time, to sit down and write a review or answer the 76 question poll

I imagine that you will find GREAT campgrounds all around this country...and they will each have something different to offer. Those folks with the signature maps, that are all filled in, can probably attest to that. Might be an interesting topic:
Which part of the country has the nicest CGs????
But, only folks who have been all over, can answer!

Oh, and I think that now days, WiFi is as important as Full Hook-ups to most folks. Can we do without for a day or two....sure, but we do like having them when we can.

From reading the article and list it appears that a select few campgrounds really pushed their customers to fill out the survey and send it in. I'm not sayin they're not great campgrounds but how else could two campgrounds in the same town both make the list?

From another point of view; How can anyone come up with a top any number in any location? Going by any criteria you want your top 10 may not be in my top 50. The top anything is too subjective. If it bothers anyone, don't get worked up, as it's just someone's opinion and you know what they say about opinions. Unless you're a moderator your opinion doesn't count.

Of the 12 listed I have only heard of two and never stayed at any of them so they would not even make my top 50

Problem I have with ALL top anything lists is that they don't have a clue what my likes and dislikes are. The only way any of these lists could have any meaning would be for the editorial staff to provide an extensive check box list of what you might want and then spew out results based on your personal inputs.

Did they get out of Penn. to run the survey. 4 out of 10 best are from Penn. and 2 out of 4 Parks of the year are from Penn. I don't think so.

Kozy Rest Kampground, Harrisville, PA is far, very far from a US top campground.

I live about 40 miles from Kozy Rest and have driven through a few times.

The article & list are just plain stupid. First off most CGs mentioned are in the East or Middle America. I can assure you that East Coasters don't camp anymore than the West Coasters and after camping on both coast the selection criteria is entirely different. Not saying which is better but if you are from the East your list is going to be different from mine in the West. Just a dumb story line!
