I just added a radio & speakers into my truck camper. There was a light close by so I tapped into it because it had constant + and - 12 volt. The unit works great until I turn on the converter. This seems to kick out the radio , as if its getting to much voltage. Is there somthing Ive missed or done wrong. Help

The converter shuld not cause the voltage to go too high if your battery is in the circuit. The battery accts like a vloltage limitor.

it's RF interference , several models are known to cause Lots of interference

what is the make & model number of your converter

I sudde suggest you run a separate sheilded power circuit to the radio from the battery

It could be interference, or it could be an over-voltage issue. Some radios simply may not like 14.5V or more that the converter can put out.

You could try a voltage limiter (available from any electronics store) and/or connecting to a different circuit fed directly from the battery.

Either high voltage (battery does not limit voltage) or too much ripple (failing or just plain cheap converter can cause this but battery will help filter it) which looks like AC to the radio.
