Ok guys I need to know something quick, how many batteries are in your 5th wheel. The reason I ask is I have one. Also the box that it is setting in looks like something that belongs to a boat. It does not seal completely. Please a little help was thinking of getting a 2nd battery like my class a used to have.
Ideas or info would be great!
Thanks
Edward

If you're not boondocking, one battery is enough. Do you plan on doing some boondocking?

Yes but also I think that the Marine battery that is in the coach is not correct. SO that is why the questions. I think that the battery is about 1 year old!

2 batteries when I bought my new to me 5'er. They used to be 12 volt type but I changed over to 2X6 volt golf cart type since we dry camp more often. The container for the batteries is a compartment type with a door panel on the side of the 5'er. The compartment door is louvered to let out the gases the batteries produce while charging.
I hook up a batteryMINDer to them every 5 to 6 months to keep them charged and conditioned.

A fifth wheel can have any number of batteries depanding on the useage. A marine type is good for boondocking, the box is normal. Just add another in parrellal and you will have enough for most applications. We have 2 Trojan T105s.

I have one battery in my fiver. It is a marine "dual purpose" battery. The battery box cover vents to the outside with a flex hose. This is the same battery that came with my trailer new (four years ago). It seems to be holding up fine. But we do not boondock.

Additional battery will come in handy when using furnace in cold weather. A had second battery installed when I bought 5vr new in 05, dual purpose Interstate. One only last until this summer (only 6 yrs). Replaced with Diehard. I keep second battery as a spare. I have battery shutoff switch installed. I can use bat #1, #2, or OFF (which saves parasitic drain on battery).

I have one in mine that is covered by a box which vents to the outside. Make sure you put in a cut off switch to kill the current drain from the battery when you are not camping.

We have two 12 volt batteries. Like to have the extra juice for all of the 12 volt things like awnings, slides, and front jacks that use a lot of juice.
