I have a 2000 class A Ford F53.
I have repaired the right side exhaust manifold 3 times, the stainless studs are breaking in the cylinder head which is very time consumming to drill and tap.
I have been in touch with Ford to no avail they claim that the Stainless steel studs is the only fix.
I have discussed this with other Ford owners and have found this problem to be quite common.
has qnyone out there found a fix that might be a little more permanant.
Thank You

I had the same problem with one motor home with a Ford F53 chassis and now we have another one that has a banks power system on it and it does not seem to have the manifold problem the old one did.
They are both 460 engines.

It could be that the exhaust manifold is expanding as it heats up, possibly stressing the bolts. I might suggest you look into headers, rather than the exhaust manifolds.
My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Headers is a one time fix..........there are many of us on this forum that have been there done that.....install headers once and be done with that problem!

I went the header route,no problems since.Heard of some people reaming out the holes in the exhaust manifolds to allow for expansion. Can't say if this works for sure since I never tried it.

Unfortunately a set of headers is about the only real cure for the problem. Ford 460 V8, the V10 and Chevy 454 all suffer from the same problem. Just not enough air flow across, mostly passenger side, manifold to keep it cool enough so it doesn't expand and snap the bolts/studs.

Some of you guys must really be pushing those MHs hard! Or maybe it's just some of the assembly line engines have been put together wrong. Mine is stock, 63K miles and no plug or manifold bolt problems. I run the western mountain passes all the time also.

If you want "repair and forget solution", install BANKS HEADERS(the PowerPack). The stock manifolds are extremely poor design.
