One of the main premises for this forum seems to be how to upgrade or fix existing things with their motorhomes. I fall into that category too. Brand new motorhomes seem to be the target for our goal to personalize and modify and tweak to get them exactly as we want them. And things in brand new units break and need fixing right away. But does anyone out there have the perfect motorhome? One that rolled off the line with every nook and cranny exactly the way they want it and with nothing really to do? Silly question I know. A house on wheels just like any house on land requires constant attention. But one day I would like to trade up on my perfect machine. One exactly the way I want down to the last screw. One that requires no fixing within a reasonable timeframe. Seems relative as many find the perfect car and never do a thing to it. Why the constant fidgeting with motorhomes? Not pointing fingers, I am guilty of several mods in only a few months. Does the perfect one exist or is it our nature as Rver's to "work" on them?

Probably no such thing. As long as it works well and you like it that's what counts.

Look at Foretravel's website as they are almost all custom...one unit at a time, just the way you want it, but not 2 million like a Prevost or Newell

There has never been or ever will be built that perfect RV. After owning any type of RV, there is always something that you wished, they the MFG had not included in your unit. Just make a wish list, and see how many of those items are there when shopping for that perfect RV.
There are advantages and disadvantages to any type of RV. Just shop around and see what type will meet most of your demands.

IMHO there can not be a "perfect" MH. Everyone's taste & requirements are too different. Your perfect MH might not work/appeal for/to me at all. That doesn't make either one of them inferior, just not perfect!

Hi,

The "Perfect" for you and I are differant RV's. I actually wanted the Southwind Storm, but my wife wanted the Bounder, about $10,000 more that also included dual pane windows, lighted storage compartments, larger fresh water tank, and a bit more! I loved the 30' length, while others wanted something larger to camp in, it is handy to have something shorter to drive. That is the untimate compromise.

Shorter and lighter is nicer to drive and will get better mileage, climb the mountains faster, ect, without so much wear on the brakes and engine/transmission. But larger is also nice when in the campground, and a slide out would have been nice too, but I would have had to wait another year to buy my RV with a slide-out and larger GVWR, yet smaller 6.8 V10. It turns out that the first couple of years of the V10 where not the best ones, they only had about 4 threads on the spark plugs, and many poped out over the years due to the aluminum being weaker than steel, and they did not stay in place.

That is why they make so many brands, and sizes.

Yes I did start modifying the RV as soon as we bought it. Installed a water surge tank, window awnings, main awning, window screens to cover the windshield and front windows when parked in the sun, inverter, solar panels, replacement dinette table. And that was before taking the first long trip!

We have the motorhome that is perfect for us and I am sure there are many rv.net readers who feel the same way.

I think motorhomes are like boats. You might stumble across one that works well for you but "perfect" is, in my opinion, impossible given the RV industry and it's unbelievably low overall standard of quality and workmanship.

Very subjective what is perfect, no computer table in the new motor home, closet does not have shelf etc. etc. etc.

We just got second motor home and now we can compare the things we liked and do not have now. Therefore can not be perfect ever.
