I am considering a new(ish) vehicle to tow behind our Winnebago View, which has a 3500 lb towing limit. The Suzuki SX4 is on the list because it is a relatively cheap AWD and falls under the weight limit. It doesn't get great mileage (30 mpg highway). Apparently the AWD manual-transmission version can be flat towed. As far as I can tell Suzuki puts a 55mph/200 mile limit, but it also seems they do that for all their vehicles. Does anyone here tow an SX4? What do you think of it?

I just purchased a 2000 Chevy Tracker (same as Suzuki) 2 door automatic. I can switch from rear wheel drive to 4 wheel drive with a shift lever. I can also put it in neutral for towing. The previous owner would tow it to Florida a couple times a year. I towed it back to my house with my Pickup Truck. It has the same 55mph and 200 mile limits that all Suzukis have. What I was told, you can tow it faster but MUST stop arpox every 200 miles to lube the trans and transfer case. I'm going to keep my speed at 65mph or less for safety reasons and I believe the Tracker will be just fine. It did tow great behing my Pickup so I don't expect any issues when towing with my MH.

jassrnj, my parents towed a Sidekick for quite a while with good results. It was actually a pretty competent off-roader, and it did tow well. I had a nice Tracker about 7 or 8 years ago and foolishly sold it.

Unless you know something I don't know, You can't tow the Suzuki SX4 AWD four down!!!. Only the Suzuki SX4 FWD Manual can be towed 4 down!!! You can tow the FWD Automatic on a two dolly. The AWD has to be on a trailer, all four wheels!!! Check the Remco Towing site for more information. I'd like one to, but...

wny_pat, my understanding is that an AWD SX-4 can be towed 4-down if it has a manual transmission. Some time ago I found the owner's manual online and as I remember, that's what it said. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find it online again. But the Motorhome Magazine dinghy guide for 2011 indicates that the manual transmission model can be towed 4-down. It has the same towing specifications as all Suzukis. Models with the CVT must be towed on a dolly.

The point of my post is that I wondered what people thought of the SX-4 if anyone has one.
