Guilty as charged! I've used that expression. But not the way I'm seeing it discussed here. (ie as "fire escape" in connection with derogatory comments or opinions) My use comes when playing devil's advocate. I'll readily admit I do that way too much! LOL Former debate team member,I'm easily able to explore and defend positions I may not believe in myself. An annoying habit that I really do try to curb.
Now about this aggravating expression: it is what it is. As opposed to what?! It is what it isn't?

I appreciate it when members state that it's their opinion. They understand that there may not be an absolute in the discussion. It's the posts that are absolute, that get to me when we know that it is really just their opinion - and wrong.
