I have a fiberglass roof, but need to occasionally "paint" new material around roof seams, antennas, vents, etc. I also seal over the original caulk on the top of the slide. In the past, I've used Camping World's Elastomeric for RV's (aka Dicor Elastomeric RV Roof Coating). They sell an elastomeric roof coating at Home Depot that costs as much for a gallon as Camping World gets for a quart. My question is, are all roofing elastomerics equal and am I getting ripped off buying one that says "RV Elastomeric"? Has anyone had success using big box products? It's about a 55 mile drive to the nearest Camping World and I don't want to wait to get the product shipped since it might rain this weekend.

Like many RV Products! There is little doubt in My Mind that for Every Expensive RV Product there is a Less Costly alternative. This sounds like it may be another one.

I used a Home Depot product " Black Knight" although it was white, to coat my "C" a few years ago. I bought a 5 gal container put on 3 coats and only used half.

I'm really pleased with it. It does stain but it is quieter when it is raining and cooler is the hot sun.

What do you mean "it does stain"? I'm considering painting my entire roof this winter while in Texas.

Roof coating is different than seam sealer- coating is not meant to fix leaks, or seal seams with movement. It is basically meant to somewhat protect the roof, and make it pretty white.

Depends on the blend, some are watery and some are thick, I prefer the thicker stuff, it usually has a higher elasticity rating than the thinner stuff.

Read the labels, and educate yourself for the best option and yes, all white elastomerics will go off color over time as dirt builds up and they age from solar exposure.

Bi-Mart has a thicker SnowRoof Elastomeric that I used on my last roof repair, been working great for a while, just remember to embed the reinforcing mesh into a couple layers of it to help reinforce seams.
