I'm happy with the Virgin Broadband2Go service. Hard to beat $20 per month for 1 gig data. Check their web site and see if there is coverage in the places you'll be going.

Is this a wise move: Well.... .In my not very humble opinion... It is the Wireless Data plan I went for so YES.

The 50 dollar plan is unlimited data, but only so much of it is high speed. Once you hit the throttle point you are down to dial up or worse.

NOTE: I have never seen the full speed they advertise. But that MIGHT be due to my computer, My best computer is .. kind of vintage.

VirginMobile dropped the unlimited plan entirely.

My experience is in experimenting in the same areas I got faster speeds with my AT&T 3G connection than with the Sprint 3G connection using the Broadband2Go and putting my iPhone on wifi with it.

Our Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO worked great during our travels around Florida (but we didn't go to the the Keys) two years ago. We were able to use it in several State Parks and even got a usable signal for checking e-mail at the Long Pine Key campground in Everglades National Park (this was well outside the coverage area shown on their map). BUT............it worked dismally, if at all, during our trip across the south last winter to California. Often we would be well within the map coverage area and have full signal bars yet get no more than dial-up speed (if we were lucky). We did get download speeds above 1 Mbs a couple of times (out of 27 different campgrounds). We were very disappointed with this. We will try it again in Florida this winter and, if the performance is not satisfactory, we will be looking for an alternative.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I am confused, but have some good information. I did check the coverage around Key West and the whole area came up red (said it was 3G coverage directly with Sprint), but am not sure what to do. I was not aware the higher price plans got you faster service, but guess that would figure. I just had trouble paying Verizon the fee when only using the service for 4 months. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I looked at the Sprint 3G Coverage map on the Sprint website and it showed the Florida Keys as completely covered. I know from experience that is a total crock. I screen captured the Sprint 3G coverage for the Key West area from my iPad app called Coverage?. I think this map is generous from my experience in not finding any Sprint coverage at all anywhere on the Florida Keys where I checked including the three state parks. The Coverage? app has been pretty accurate for me using the VirginMobile Broadband2Go mifi card.

No. We just got back from the Florida Keys and found the VirginMobile Broadband2Go to be practically worthless in the Keys and just about anywhere along the Gulf Coast to Galveston, TX. I could not get reception in a single Florida state park campground. We had little reception as well on our trip to Arizona last spring. For all practical purposes coverage is not good for RVers. My coverage map shows no coverage in Key West but a hotspot just east near the Naval Air Station. I got no reception at Bahia Honda SP or John Hennencamp Coral Reef SP campgrounds on the Keys. If I try hotspotting again I will go with a VerizonWireless device.

I use Virgin Broadband. I'm in St Andrew State park atm (Panama City,Florida)and our broadband is fine. Same with the Florida Keys...our broadband worked fine except to play video (we usually were able to use Skype with video). It has worked in every Florida State park we've been in so far (Atlantic & Gulf side)

I get a plan $40/month for unlimited...after 5 gigs apparently the speed slows down. I haven't used 5 gigs a month yet.
