My Cub has one of these:

My question is will the 12v plug work for 12v heating blankets?

Thanks in advance.

I've done so much with so little for so long, I'm now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Bad Link
Depends on what your blanket draws amp wise.. I believe most wall plates for TVs are rated for 5 amps..

I believe I fixed the link.
What would be better 12v heating blanket or a 12v heating pad? I ask because it is always my wife is cold and I am hot when camping in cooler weather.

We use our 12-volt plug, the one at the cable receptacle, for anything 12-volt that has the same type of plug.

I would caution you on using the appropriate wall plate for your application. Here's a thread that discusses proper fit and type that may be of value 12 volt wall plate

I have a 400W PSW INVERTER (AIMS Model) hard-wired into my battery system with a multi-outlet extension cord near the HDTV area. We just plug into the 120VAC extension cord when we need "Emergency Power" off the battery system.
We can watch HDTV, Play the DVD, run a couple of cell phone chargers, a 15W desk lamp, and an electric blanket. The wife loves to sit around the HDTV using an electric blanket.

This setup has come handy a few times at electric sites when they had power failures.

That is usually what is plugged into this 400W inverter 120VAC drop cord.

The connector may be the least of your worries.

12v heating elements work fine when you're in the back of your Peterbilt with the diesel idling. May kill a battery quickly if it uses too much power.

What's the wattage of the device you want to use? I Googled some but the "specs" just show the physical size.

The ones I have looked at are from 4.5 to 5.o watts. My plan is to have shore power, just thought I would use the 12v plug even though I will have shore power.

Hi,

I routinely use two 6 amp heating blankets in the "tv" outlet in my RV.

We just use the AC heating pad, electric blanket and/or a small oscillating heater. We just figure if we don't have to use our LP.... We have camped down to the 30's and it worked fine. The last trip was the coldest and we only did the heater...
