Wondering if anyone has replaced their carpeting with new carpet or allure flooring?

We had our carpet replaced in our 2004 Keystone Challenger with new carpet and a real pad. It sure was nice. We also replaced the vinyl in the kitchen with engineered hardwood that is 3/8 of an inch thick, so it matched the level of the old flooring.

I have heard of others installing Alure but I have never actually done it.

I have a stack of Allure flooring in storage in my camper. Not for me, for my neighbor. He's going to rip out the carpet in their class A motorhome and replasce it with the Allure.
It's really good looking stuff. Some kind of solid rubbery vinyl looking product. I'd bet you could use it in the bottom of a swimming pool.
The only downside I could see would be imperfections in the sub floor might eventually show thru where with laminate flooring they wouldn't. But I don't really know.

Ripped out the carpet in our 5er and installed Allure this spring. Best move we ever made. Easier to keep clean. And 100% waterproof. Definitely want to sweep the floor before laying it down.

We had new carpeting installed for the whole RV when we did our Carriage ReDo 2 years ago. For me, I love the carpet because there are no more floors to wash! Just run the vac everywhere. Another bonus for us is the floor is always so cushy and warm. No more stepping on to a cold floor in the mornings.
There are only 2 of us, no kids pets etc so we have no problem keeping the floor clean.
You have to go with what works best for you and your lifestyle, Diana

When using allure, did the slide scratch the flooring at all?

we used laminate in ours. Don't like carpet. Don't have it in the stick house either. Each time I have ripped up carpeting I see why I don't like it.

Be aware that some RV floors are not very even. Ducts especially. Plan on doing a bit of prep work before laying the flooring.

On our unit, the slide out has a tapered hard plastic wedge at the leading edge as it slides back into the camper. When we ran the slideout in and out a few times we noticed that there were a few light scratches on the surface of the Allure. I assume it's from the mounting screws for that plastic wedge.

Since the Allure is significantly thinner than the old carpet was, we use scatter rugs in the area where the scratches appeared when we retract the slideout.

In my humble opinion, even if I need to replace the Allure in a few years, it's so inexpensive and so much easier to maintain than carpet. that it's a no brainer.

One of these days I'll take pictures.

I installed Allure in the main areas -- not the slides yet. I use strips of old linoleum to roll the slides in on. Don't know whether the slides would damage the Allure or not -- probably not, but I don't take the chance.

When I made the purchase I bought enough to do the slides, but I'm still trying to come up with a practical and eye pleasing way to do the forward edges where they will meet the main floor when the slides are out. There needs to be some sort of seal there, something rubber maybe. Haven't come up with it yet. I read where one guy used rubber base installed upside down, but I'm not sure that would look professional. Didn't see any close-up pics of it.

I did the living, kitchen, steps, hallway outside the bathroom and the bathroom floor. It takes some planning. In some of the smaller areas including the bathroom, I had to work backwards and meet the floor while coming back toward it. I used slip sheets under the glue surfaces to keep them from sticking together while maneuvering the strips into place. I've got pictures but seem to have trouble posting them here. If someone else wants to post them for me give me a shout.
