Has anyone traveled on highway 180 from Silver City New Mexico to Glenwood New Mexico. We have a 33' Motor Home towing a Jeep Wrangler and are wondering if we could make that trip in our rig. Also wondering about BLM Lands or RV accomadations in or around Glenwood.

180 is a good 2 lane highway. You should have no problems.

There are campgrounds close by but not sure of the accomodations.
Check with the Foresty Dept in Glenwood.

180 is a very good road for a motorhome. Be aware that there were some forest fires north around Gila Cliff Dwellings this spring/summer but the Dwellings weren't affected. This past May we stayed at City of Rocks State Park just south of Silver City (unique) - some electric and some gorgeous dry sites carved out amidst the tall spires. There are also a couple nice forest service campgrounds further north on Hwy 35 that we have used in the past - don't get onto Hwy 15 with the motorhome. Upper End and Mesa are the campgrounds and there's also boondocking along Hwy 35, too. From Hwy 180 around Glenwood we picked up Hwy 78 and took it into Arizona to Safford. It's very scenic - no really big grades but it is curvy, if that bothers you. Around Glenwood and The Catwalk (recommended), there are some boondocking spots and a forest campground right on 180 at the entrance area to The Catwalk (Bighorn Campground). Again, because of the fires don't know what the area looks like - we didn't get north of Hwy 78 this time. Also don't know if the forest service campground would be closed for the season. Have a good trip in your beloved Southwest! We follow your Blog!
