I have a friend who has an 05 Ford 6.0 PSD. When he is not towing everything is fine, but when he is towing the big hose off the turbo blows off too many times, is there help for him ? Thanks

Get the hoses off of "him" and wash them in carb cleaner. (Some use alkie)Do the same with the bungs. Then spray them with hair spray and slip them on and tighten the clamps.

"He" will be fine from then on out.

This pic is on our 7.3 but the clamps are pretty stout. Which one are you referring to?

Good advice...but have him make sure the turbo not over boosting. This is a common 6.0 issue. Sticky variable vanes in the turbo often raise boost pressures above the threshold for the clamps. Left unaddressed, blown head gaskets are a possibility.

There was a recall/tsb by ford on this issue. Have him check the vin with dealer to see if it was applied. Also be careful of over boost, can blow the ends of the plastic intercooler off. Happened to my BIL 2x already. He needs a AM replacement.

We had the same problem with our 6.0. Fine for several years and then it started blowing the hose about every 10000 miles when pulling. Turbo taken apart and cleaned - no problem after that. Ricatic is absolutely correct that the overboosting can blow your head gaskets. Better to blow the hose than the head gaskets.

My 05 Excursion on the first big trip pulling my 30 ft TT with superslide did that. I put it on twice with the factory clamp in a mile pulling a hill, third time took the sewer hose clamp off my sewer hose and clamped it with that. It stayed till I got the TT home and took my new Ex to the stealership with barely 1500 miles on it to get it fixed. THey did the recall thing to it, and never had to take it back for the hose clamps, but the turbo vanes stuck at the 4.5yr point with only 30K on it, and I got the new improved turbo with the drain ports etc and the new high temp lube on the vanes, and no issues since.
Good Luck!

We had a bad exhaust back pressure sensor that caused the hoses to blow off........Cheaper than a turbo, but maybe not what is wrong with yours.?.?
