We are going to be fulltimers in a few months. We are looking for a bank that would be nationwide so that we could stop there and make a deposit or withdrawal. What do you all recommend? What do you think about Wells Fargo?

If you're a Vet you may want to look at USAA.
If I get a check, I deposit it from my computer electronically, whether I'm at Big Bend or Charleston.
I can make withdrawals anywhere, and ATM fees are reimbursed back into my account.
There may be other Banks that work in a similar manner.
Besides, Banks are always looking for fees to keep my $.

You do not have to be a Veteran to use USAA banking.

Look at credit unions. Most participate in a program called "Shared Branch" which allows you to use a "foreign" credit union as if it was your own. For example, I am a member of Delta Community CU, but I make all my deposits at Georgia Telco CU because it's next to my office.

I have all deposits hitting direct to my credit union. They are also a member of the moneypass network with 3,200 locations where I can deposit cash or checks. Also on line deposits are more and more used today

There is some news that Walmart does some of the same things that banks do but will never become a real bank. Not sure about deposits.
Wells Fargo seems to be everywhere also, possibly US Bank.

Just don't go with Chase they are more west coast since they bought out Wamu. To hard to find on the east coast unless that changed since May of this year. My CU is connected with the All sys for ATMs.

We researched this quite a bit a couple of years ago when we getting ready to start out.
Bank of America, Wells Fargo/Wachovia, U.S. Bank were all good choices. U.S. Bank got the nod because of their Deposit Point system (we could deposit anywhere without an ATM), their internet banking, and their direct deposit system.
We've been very happy with them to date.

I don't know of ANY bank that is truly nationwide. BOA comes close, but has no branches or ATMs in MT, ND, SD. Many other states have only ATMs, some of them only 3 or 4 ATMs in the state.
Best thing to do is to have your deposits done electronically. You can always get cash by using a debit card and getting cash back at a purchase point.
