Now that the Reese 5th wheel hitch is out of the truck for the season-I was looking for suggestions on using the bed with the rails. I now have to cart some heavy materials around on a cart during the winter. Of course- the bed rails from the hitch stick up making it a bit more challenging.... I was thinking of putting plywood (or something else) to try and make the bed more even (but I'm not sure how to do that)
Any thoughts to make it a bit more flat all the way across and stay in place when moving something with wheels in and out?

I built a platform, 2x4 under plywood, find that it is more trouble than it's worth for me.

3 pieces cut to fit of 3/4" plywood will work fine. They may shift a little, but will hit the walls or rails. They will also protect your bed from those heavy objects.
If you want to get a little fancy put some indoor/outdoor carpet over the plywood and staple it to the wood. It will help hold the wood in place.
