I just got a call for work in Fort Lauderdale for a two week job, Starting this Tuesday 11/08/11

My question is on a very small budget, I have a TT, and or I could just stay in my van for those two weeks. What would a good place that fits?

I'm going to need a place to shower and electric, my basic needs to make this work.

Thanks for any and all suggestions

Yeah, I know not the best time for this... but work is work and I don't say no.

I doubt the P.D. would let you live in your van. Google campgrounds near ft. Lauderdale and you should get get some hits.

alot will depend where work is, but C.W. Smith is a county campground in the FL area. You might try there

Work is about 6 miles from the Fort Lauderdale Airport but not sure yet which direction yet, just the general area.

Basically I just need a safe place to stay, most anything will do. Cheaper and simpler are better.

Broward County owned TY park is very close to the airport.

Yes it is safe. The last rate posted is $40 per night.

Thank all, I really appreciate the help.
So I like what I see on the TY's website. Looks like it will be my first choice when I get there.

Actually all the Broward County Parks are very nice. Last year we stayed at Markham Park (also Broward County) which has lots of green and space for $40/night. It's close to TY and both are very safe and lovely places to stay.
If you're interested I've got pics of Markham HERE

Now, these are NOT the cheapest parks in the area. We wanted lots of green when we went last year so Markham was a great choice, but there are most likely cheaper private parks around the area esp. if you ask for a monthly rate. Unfortunately I don't have specific recommendations, but check out rvparkreviews for more options and ask around on monthly rates.
