I would like to get a backup camera for my DH for Christmas. We sometimes double tow, 5th wheel with boat behind it...
To help in backing to hitch up the boat or keep an eye out for a flat tire on the boat trailer, I thought this would be a good idea.
I found one at Sam's Club for about $91.00 that looks good.
My questions are:
Do you have one? Do you use it? Is it worth it?
Thank you for your help and opinions.

yup, yup and yup. our B/U camera is always on when we're on the move. i keep an eye on the toad and traffic lingering in adjacent lanes.
as for the price...can't say if that's good or bad but some things to think about:
- color or b&w camera? ours is b&w
- integrated microphone? ours has one and is handy when getting directions on backing into a site
- adjustable brightness and contrast controls? a definite must.
- includes the monitor? does the monitor have two camera inputs or just one? ours has two but we've never installed a second camera.
good luck to you.

We have rear view cameras on the truck bumper and the rear of the fiver. Both are wired to a 10 inch monitor in the cneter console.
The one on the rear of the fiver is quite useful in traffic. As is the one in the bumper when not towing. The bumper one also comes in handy to see the trailer tires while towing, as the dually fenders block my view of the tires in the mirrors.
You will likely find the instructions are designed to install the camera in connection with the reverse lights. Thus it will only operate while in reverse. To change it to a rear view vs a backup, connect to a 12v source that is hot while in run or add amanual power switch.

The one you are looking at has a 3.5" screen which I feel is inadequate. The same company (Peak) made a 7" model which I used till I forgot to lock the truck one night. It was wonderful but sadly when I went to replace it I found the only place to get them now is on Ebay and the price is about 3 times what I paid. I bought the 3.5" and you will be seeing it soon on ebay as like I said it is useless (too small to see at a glance which is what you need when driving). I wired the power into the running lights an because I always run with lights on, the camera was also on. The model # for the 7" model is PKCORC. hope this helps.

He won't see this, he is never on the computer at home and the one at work is strictly for work. I don't think he even knows how to find this site....Thank goodness

Thank you for this answer, I will see if I can find a 7" inch one. Cost may prohibit more but I am willing to try.
My DH is not one for "new things" but once he is used to it, he will say he likes it. I am hoping this is the end result here.

Thank you for your answer. These are good points and I will use them in my search. Here is the one I was looking at: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod2500044#top
(Hope that works)
Also read and considering what powderman426 said in reply.
I know to turn to everyone here on RVNet for good answers and opinions. Thank you!

I purchased this one this past spring. Audiovox B/U camera Don't know why I waited so long. It works great. I did have to wedge something behing the top of the camera so it would point down toward the hitch. Very easy to install.
