I read where one guy said his nav system was only good for a place to mount his suction cup mount for his TomTom.

Sounds like the GM nav systems are as bad as Ford. We have the top of the line nav system (at least in 2006)in our Escape and it's garbage. Poor screen graphics, have to use CDs, and not very intuitive to program. I actually prefer to use my little $150 Magellan that I bought 5 years ago.
