i was never a believer in ghosts....
however I had a friend that moved into an apartment above a store in an old building. probably built in the 1940's. when she moved in the previous renter had left behind an urn of ashes. she placed urn in hallway for them to pick up. she would always tell us stories that her place was haunted. I never believed her. a few of us were there one night for cocktails and I witnessed some strange stuff. toilet would flush by itself. not run, but actually flush....also she had a closet that only had a curtain across it and no door. while we were sitting on the couch all the shoe boxes flew off the top shelf of the closet and landed on the floor. she would also tell us that pictures would be re arranged and she had dried flowers hanging on the wall and she would come home from work to find them upside down. not exactly a non-believer now...more open minded about it.

My nephew just moved out of a house where a man had died several years ago. He said his friends 2 year old son would stare at the closet and scream. And their dog would not go into that bedroom. Their only experience with ususual occurances was a musical table top Christmas decoration would come on by itself. A baby sitter they had hired would not stay in the house. She'd take the baby outside to wait for them to come home. Haunted? Don't know. But his wife had an episode one night of talking in 'a foreign language' and ended up commiting suicide 2 weeks later.

Our house isn't haunted, but we're up to our ears in Vampires and a variety of other strange creatures. I watch too many movies that "Suck" I guess.

Skid Row Joe wrote: EPenney wrote: Since Halloween will soon be here, I thought I would share the following with you all:
Our home was built 20 years ago on a former dairy farm pasture, in a small grove of oak trees. Soon after moving into the house, we experienced occasional strange happenings: soft knocking on walls, our cats watching as if something was moving thru a room but we could not see anything, my sister seeing an aparition looking out the guestroom window when she and DW were backing the car down the driveway. My sister won't stay overnight with us since that happened, that's OK with me Our youngest daughter who is now 25, does not like to stay in the house alone when visiting due to past weird noises in the house. Our three other children say they believe our house is haunted.
After a couple of years living in the house, we were at a party next door, and shared our experiences with an oldtime local of our town. She informed us a son of the family that had owned the dairy farm our house was built on had been murdered 7 years earlier in the oak grove next to our house, about 15 feet from the house.
Fast forward to this past year. After a number of years with only a few unexplained happenings in and around our home, DW & I, who have been empty nesters for 7 years, have experience an increase in unexplained happenings. Examples: hearing soft footsteps on the second floor when we are downstairs, soft vocalizations. I'm self employed, and sometimes when I'm here alone, I get the feeling I'm not.
So this morning, I'm at my desk working, when a movement of air brushed past me and a spare computer power brick on the top of a filing cabinet fell to the floor. That was real weird. Without pictures - this thread is worthless.....

My GF says she sometimes hears footsteps upstairs when I am not at my house. It is an English Tuder type about 70 years old with hardhood floors. I have never heard those noises.

My boys (20 and 14) and I joke that the house is haunted. The older one has said so his whole life. He's always blamed "Bob" for any electronic issues in the house. I used to tell him that we'd talked to our neighbor and she never mentioned anyone named Bob living in this house. She'd lived next door since our house was built in 1939. Then, one day I realized that we still get mail for someone named Robert O... We've lived in this house for 16 years and the people we bought it from had a different last name than Robert. And they lived here for 7 years. Apparently our ghost has a timeshare that people send him junk mail about.
It's funny because I always very loudly, "Bob...your mail is on the piano!" One day I fussed and just threw it away saying that he never read it anyway. A little later that day, my older son yells into the dining room telling me, "Mom! Bob tripped Drew (the younger one)!" Apparently Drew was running through the living room and his feet were pulled out from under him. Nick said he was horizontal in the air before he hit the ground. I make fun, but don't throw Bob's mail away anymore until it's sat on the piano for a couple of days. In fact, there's a letter sitting there now for him.
My friend swears that she heard someone whisper to her in the kitchen the other day, and two of my son's former girlfriends refused to go into certain parts of the house. I figure my house could be the most haunted in the world and I'd just blame the dogs and cats for making noise and messing things up.
My parents' house on the other hand...is definitely haunted.

My grama passed away before Christmas. I was in her house upstairs cleaning & heard footsteps downstairs, like some one was walking around, thinking it was my brother stopping in I went downstairs and there was no one down there.
I have also felt my dad sit on the couch while I was sleeping. So yes I do believe.

I posted before in 2011 bu here is on closest to home so to speak.
My wife took a job transfer quite some distance away, in 1990.
She used to wake me to get up, for my job which I needed to be at later, when she left for work before the transfer.
After the transfer, every so often, I would oversleep. The mattress would get nudged, on my side of the bed and I would here time to get up. Sometimes I didn't hear the time to get up.
My wife was long gone by a couple of hours.
I answered ok and laid there for a few seconds or whatever, and the realization hit me that she was long gone. I rolled out of bed and called her name thinking she was late too but she was long gone.
I never was scared and I questioned whether it was real.
It happened several or numerous times.
I apparently had someone looking out for me or us our home.
My wife and I have talked about it many many times.
It was real. Perhaps the Spirit or whatever is still there?
The thing that got me is that I was not scared the first time or ever.

No. It is impossible for my home to be haunted because I live in a condo and no one has ever heard of a "Haunted Condo"! I'm safe.
