I am looking at putting a two way hitch behind the MH so I can pull the toad and carry the two bicycles behind the MH--Anybody had any luck with this hitch--The bikes only weigh 22# total so I don't think it'll hurt the weight--RICH

I would start with something like this or this added to a long hitch like this.

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

I don't know of anything that would work for both, unless you had something attatched to the bumper of the mh. What I did is put the bike rack on the toad. Hope you find something "happy travelings"

I welded another receiver on top of my drop hitch for a bike rack. Harbor Freight has this dual hitch extender for $24.99 that might work for you.

Or you can spend more on a Roadmaster double receiver drop hitch.

With the double hitch extenders shown and a bike rack it is workable. But these are going to weigh more than the bikes themselves.

Also your estimate of the bikes being 22 lbs total doesn't sound correct. That would be 11 lbs per bike. While there are a couple of racing bikes that are actually in the 11 to 12 lb range your talking about bikes that cost in excess of $10,000 each. Did you mean 22 lbs per bike?

Go to camping world website and type in bike racks. I use the XC-2 and am very happy with it. You have to buy a longer hitch ball holder but it works pretty great. They have other types too.

I use a double receiver hitch and turn it upside down with the bike rack in the top one and my ball hitch in the botom for towing my car. I did move the bike rack closer to the MH by sliding it farther in the receiver and drilling another hole in the shaft for the pin.

My dual hitch extender is only rated at 4000# for the straight-thru receiver and 400# for the aux. receiver. I don't know why a straight piece of iron would only be rated for 4000# but it is.
I use mine for a spare tire carrier in the aux. but there are many bike carriers designed to fit into a 2" receiver.

The multi-use hitch from Harbor Freight is what I got when I wanted to mount a spare tire rack and still pull our car dolly. The only issue that I ran into is that the upper receiver is so close to the ball that I can't uncouple the dolly without removing the spare tire mount; at least until I redesign that spare tire mount. Design issue on my part in this case but the design of your bike mount may or may not allow space to access the trailer ball. Just something to watch for.

I use a Roadmaster duel receiver with a 4" drop to connect the toad and have a bike rack in the top receiver. It was expensive but I needed to drop to get the tow bar level. The Harbor Freight version wouldn't work for me since I needed the drop.

Have about 1400 miles with the toad connected and 5000 without. No problem so far. I leave it in place with the bike rack installed even when the toad stays home. As a bonus it pushed the bike rack further out away from the rear cap. I was having problems with the bike handle bars marking up the fiberglass.
