Why do so many people expect businesses to work for free?

No free but reasonable.

Define reasonable. Im not defending CW because it does not mater to me but I hope you realize it would cost them more than $10 to repair the tire properly.

I'm sure glad I don't live in MI if the normal charge by a tire dealer to fix a flat is $25. In our neck of the woods, both here in Texas and in Idaho, the dealers normally do it for free or a very minimal charge as a goodwill gesture. The last 2 flats we had were fixed for free, by large multi state dealers.

I would rather deal with CW and their pricing policy than some of the other rv repair places around here. They are not rude as are some and at least they smile when they kiss you! They at least tell you up front if possible.

I went to Les Schwab for a flat tire and they fixed it for free. I pointed out that I had not bought the tires there and the manager said that's okay, just please come back here when you need some tires. A few months later I took my riding lawn mower tire and wheel down to have them mount a new tire on the rim that I had ordered. Again they mounted it for free. A couple of weeks ago I needed new tires on my Dodge truck so I went to Les Schwab to get them. No they weren't free, but they won my business.

I took my Vue to Discount tire a week ago for a slow leak in one tire. They fixed it free and asked when I had them rotated last. I told them they hadn't been rotated since I got thte car so they rotated them also free. I bought my last set of tires from them a few years ago and when I need some more I will go there first. They don't do MH tires though.
Discount Tires DOES do motorhome tires--at least they did mine--put a full set of Michelins on in 2009.

Regarding the OP: At one time, CW was 'king' and RV owners were a little naive, IMHO, ourselves included. Now there are a lot more options and CW can no longer get away with overcharging for everything. If they want to stay in the game, they're going to have to change. This is my opinion and I'm stickin' by it!

Depends on the store and the size. Around here they will go up to 19" but do not do 22.5" or 24" tires.

The nicest Camping World staff I have ever dealt with is south of Birmingham, AL on 65. Every time I walk in I ask where the item is that I am loking for, they will take me to it and then if they have a better priced option they show that to me also. I think it is the luck of the draw. IMHO.

Only part I don't understand about your post is why the CG lost a customer? What did they do?

Why must one person always point out little errors like this? I'm sure most understood he means CW but in his state of rage he made a simple error and you rub his nose in it. Is it a CA thing?
Must be nice being perfect but I wouldn't know, I'm human.

Wow he started out his story in a CG across from the CW and then he finished his story with the CG lost his business!

Less than happy with CW's price I completely understand "in a rage" I don't think so and don't think he was . I hoped it was a typo and he meant CW.

You have to remember when you go to an RV service center or a dealer the technicians are paid a low salary plus commission. When you go to Discount Tire or Les Schwab etc the tire changers are hourly and doesn't matter what they work on. So what you see as a crazy price, which they quoted before doing anything he did not get this as a surprise when he picked it up. The tech sees as losing money that he could make on a bigger job.

The only way this is worth all the grumbling and indignation expressed here is if they accepted the work and never mentioned price until he picked it up.
