Hi all,
We are going full time next April. We live in NH now which has no state income or sales tax. If we move our domicile to Texas or SD will we have to pay sales tax on those vehicles upon registering? We have fairly new vehicles so this could turn out to be a major expense.

In Texas you have to pay the county registration fee and a new resident tax of $90. No sales tax is collected.

You do have to have an original out-of-state title, proof of registration, proof of sales tax payment or current foreign/military ownership document

Thats confusing. They obviously can't prove they paid sales tax in a place that has none, so they won't have proof that they paid it.

Delaware has no sales tax. Do a goggle search on state sales tax schedule. It will all the states who have a sales taxs. Also Kipplnger.com will give you a lot of valuable information. Don't drive your self crazy. just don't come to California, taxes are to high.

If your state has no vehicle sales tax you will not be required to pay sles tax in a new state. I think it is 90 days prior to moving.

If NH has no sales or income tax, why not find a mailing service in NH that can handle your mail?

SD collects an "excise" tax of 3% on the current blue book value or purchase price (whichever is lower) unless you can show you paid at least that much to another state. We registered in SD from Oregon (which has no sales tax), so paid the 3% in SD.

Over 1000.00 to register trailer. 900.00 to register truck when I was there.

Many things go into a new domicile. Voting, jury duty, drivers license and vehicle license. Med insurance auto/RV insurance. Way too many things to discuss or type about here. Do research on which states could work the best for YOU. One size doesn't fit all in this game.

Do you get called for jury duty having a Livingston mailing address? Just curious as I have one also having recently registered with Excapees. Since I am traveling full time I will not be available for jury duty. How do you handle this situation?
