Helmets, full body coverage with at least jean-weight clothing, shoes/boots over ankles, and a seat low enough that I can plant a toe on the ground. Both feet flat would be nicer, but too limiting at my leg length.

Always full face quality helmet, leather gloves, steel toe boots, jeans and armored jacket. I confess on the hottest days to not wearing the jacket, but that's all I'll concede. I like my skin attached. I cringe when I see the short pants, tank tops, flip flop bunch ripping down the highway. I just hope they crash somewhere out of my sight. Don't want to be first on scene.

I left the eye protection off my list. If I leave the room without my glasses, I notice how fuzzy the world is so I am never without them so I dont think about it much.

Knowing that I have had an accident on a bike years ago. The only part that got hurt was a broke leg and that was only because the bike was heavy. No road rash on me because I was wearing protection. Our youngest, who was about 14 at the time, only got a small scratch on a finger because I always make sure the protection is worn. Forget to make sure gloves were worn that time. The peramedics did say that if he had not been wearing the full face that he would have lost half an ear from what the helmet looked like afterwards.
My husband last year had a deer run a stop sign on the road we live on (which is a dirt and gravel road) and slammed into him. He had on everything that you should. Again about the only that was possibly hurt was maybe a small fracture in a leg. (After a few days and few more x-rays no fracture)
You would think with all this that my sister, her husband and my mom would wear more than shorts and tank tops but their excuse is "it's too hot" Really? I ride in those temps too and I still wear it all. I like not having to pick dirt and gravel out of me if an accident happens thank you.

Helmets...always get the best...which in my view is current Snell Approved .

I have been hit a couple of times while riding my motorcycles. On some bikes I had crash bars, some I haven't.

Fortunate for me...both times I was hit by a car while riding a motorcycle (they crashed into me)...the crash bars...saved my bacon.

Crash bars can be good.

Some people in the US are clueless and that is why the government needs the safety laws.

A little hard to find now aren't they?

I had a Bultaco Matador with a right hand shift at the same time I had a left side shift Honda. Sure made life interesting at times. My first Triumph was right side shift. The Matador also had a left side kick start.
