If you read my previous post here we were going to get a 5th wheel, well that fell through.

We looked at several travel trailers, all of which were out of our price range by just a little bit.

We finally decided on a 2004 Palomino Mustang 6410 (pop up)that we fell in love with. This was in the middle of the range of the several things we looked at.

We put the money down and the dealer is going to work with us on coming up with the rest of the money.

Today the sales lady called and told us one of the TT that we had looked at, and previously nixed because too much damage for the amount they wanted for it, had dropped over $1,000 in price into our price range. I suspect the powers that be didn't realize it wasn't in as good of shape as they thought it was.

It was 1998 Fleetwood Terry 26H. We saw a couple of dings in the fiberglass that would need to be patched. There also was some damage (possible water damage) to the counter between the sink and the stove, which seems to be easily accessible through a door outside of the trailer.

Would you purchase the fixer-upper in your price range, or keep making payments on the more expensive one?

Any advice on a Fleetwood Terry in general? PLEASE I NEED ADVICE!

If you feel that you can fix the areas that need to be addressed, I would go with the one that is in your price range and not go into debt. An RV that is paid for that may need a little work feels a whole lot better to me than one that is newer with a monthly payment!

I would prefer to go camping than play fix-it.
Plenty of other stuff to fix at home without making my vacation travels into a road show of repairs.

I'd rather get something cheaper that I can fix myself and turn it into something just as good as the one that I would have to borrow more money to get.

I would not be borrowing, or going into debt, both would be paid off before I took possession. Credit is not good enough to get a loan lol....

The totale difference in price would be about 1200... the fixer TT obviously being cheaper than the ready to go PUP...

The only reason my wife and I can go camping, or snowbird, is that we owe nothing. No payments, & I don't need new, big, fancy to be happy. To each his own, If you can afford payments? I wouldn't..

The problem with water damage is if it is in the floor. A soft floor can get into a lot of time and labor also you might have to worry about black mold, especially if you have to remove the cabinets and other things. I would be leary about water damage. It would be a deal breaker for me if I were to buy a RV and not be able to use it until I repaired it.

If you can repair the TT and still be close to the cost of the pup why not go that route.Take the time to look it over and be sure of the damage and repairs before committing....

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.

I'm with Bumpy.

Unless... is the water leak just on the inside? Just the kitchen faucet leaking? A roof leak is what is a killer for RVs. The thing with water leaks is that it is very difficult to figure out how extensive ALL the damage might be.
