That's why they make a 30A to 50A adapter.

Your rig's main 30A breaker won't let more than 'normal' 30A so no problem.

And it's always good to have options. Also some CG 30A receptacles are badly worn from usage....will get better connections on 50A

The adapters are sold at Walmart and Camping World, and are an important addition to your RV toolbox. Happy Camping!!!

RV30A-15A "DOGBONE" 18-inch long adapter

If you ever plan on hooking your 30A trailer to your garage 15-AMP garage receptacle when parked at home you will need one of these adapters for your RV TOOL BOX along with a heavy duty 10GAUGE (10-3) 50/75-foot long extension cord (The yellow one). Plug the extension cord inthe the standard garage receptacle, then plug the RV30A shore power cable in the other end of the extension cord using this RV30A-15A "dogbone" adapter. This adapter is also available from Walmart.

With this setup you can run everything in your 30A trailer including the air conditioner. The only drawback is you have to select what is on at the same time otherwise it will trip your garage breaker. (Cant run the air conditioner at the same time you want to run the microwave)

50A (x2) is what the service is capable of delivering. This does NOT mean that it's going to force 50A down the wire. Your RV will only draw what it needs up to the limit (30A) of your main breaker.
Think of this way - that home table lamp that draws less than 1A is plugged into a 15A outlet - right? Same thing.

Walmart generally has it.

BTW most sites listed as 50a actually have 50a, 30a and 20a available in the pedestal.

I believe that when the 50A adapter is used the service is reduced to 25A? I believe it's 25A per leg but only 1 leg is used for 110VAC?

Hope to see you on the road!!!

No. 50a is available as 50a service has two pole 50a breaker with a full 12,000 watts available (240v x 50a). The adapter just connects to one side and the neutral to give 120v. The 30a RV usually will have a 30a main breaker to limit the power to 30a.
