We are sad to be leaving Alaska, but after two wonderful months touring this beautiful state it's time to start heading south. I also noted that the fireweed is telling me its time to head south as well. We took the Alaska Highway north but decided to take the Marine Highway from Haines down to Prince Rupert with a few days in Wrangell where we are at present. I can highly recommend traveling on the ferry system and it provided us with a different experience as well.
We posted a blog with some pictures at prreese.blogspot.com if anyone wants to check it out. It's almost up to date.

The ferry trip is an entirely different view of a part of Alaska, seen only from the water. We did the northbound trip this summer from Prince Rupert to Skagway on the MV Matanuska. We plan to return to Prince Rupert in the future just to spend more time. Nice place and lots to see and do.

We left Alaska yesterday and now in Whitehorse YT for a couple of days before heading south through central BC to Vancouver. We spent all of August in Alaska and really enjoyed our time here. Have never taken the marine highway but it has already begun to creep into our conversation. Next time we will come up in June/July and likely get better weather, it does rain a lot here in August and quite cool.
