I have been trying several days to "win" a site at W.P.Franklin corps of engineers park. I am told you must reserve online at 10am. We have two computers, so two of us were on and clicking starting at 9:57. Everytime at 10 AM the sites were taken. We tried each on a different site, as well as both of us on one site. This will be the second year we have tried to reserve last year we tried for Jan, and this year Feb. Just wondering if it's just us or are there that many of us trying to get the same site??

Almost anything in Fl January/February is hard to reserve, especially state/federal parks - lots of snowbirds competing for limited spots. There are also some ways to "game" the system, as there always are, such as reserving the week before if you want a specific weekend and then cancelling the unwanted days later. I was also at a "campfire bs session" this summer where one of the participants claimed to know of a robocall type system to snag campsites and resell them. We winter at our stick and brick in Fl and very rarely even bother to try and find a spot during snow bird season to use the motorhome. Good luck in your quest.

In Dec 2009 I just drove in and was told they were full but they asked how long I wanted to stay. I was only looking for 3 days so they told me they did have a spot but I would have to stay 1 night on one sight and 2 nights in amother.
This was in the middle of a week.
It is a very nice place. No wonder its full most of the time.

if you don't mind going more south, Ortona South near Belle Glade is nice and might not be as booked. good luck!

Maybe Ortona Lock COE near LaBelle? more sites...

Even better, stay in southern GA or AL. Cheaper campgrounds, similar weather except for some "cold spells", less crowds.
