They attach directly to the vent itself. The link below will show you how to install the Camco version.

Drilling is required in the side of the vent frame only. No drilling into the roof. A very easy install.

I only have 1 vent too but I'm getting one.....still think it will help rlease heat in the summer months. Opening windows and/or screen doors will help with the circulation.

They are also good when winter camping. Snow will render a standard vent useless and you need to be able to open them to get moisture out of the RV.
If you have only one vent get one anyway. You will not regret it.

Just installed 2 Camco's with the removable rear for cleaning. $20 at wallys
THEY DO NOT WORK.....
It started raining moderately just after installing, rain was falling <5 degrees. normal mod rain storm. YES they are installed correctly. I keep saying to myself during install that this would be difficult to work 100%.
It cut the droplets by maybe 3/4. But still enough that you wouldn't want to sit below it.
Problems with these are;
1. they are not large enough. The rain hits the roof and rebounds, goes through the angled louvers(perfect angle for rebounding droplets) and hits the screen mesh, then in the trailer space.
2. Or they need a secondary louver to knock out the rebound...which would lower air movement.
I will look into the Max air ones. they look bigger....And I think these Camco's will be much less as moving nice blowing wind into the trailer.....
I just can't see how anyone would think this is acceptable. I was so obvious to me installing that there wasn't enough to stop the rain rebound from entering.
Just to show, you can't take the reviews to seriously.

We had Standard Maxxair's and a MaxxFan on our last 2 5'ers. The vents were open unless we had the heat or AC on. Never had any problems with water coming in, even the one on the down sloping front over the bed. I just installed Maxxair II's on the Mountaineer, we'll see how they work.

I've had MaxxAir's on rv vents and fans for many years now. Our current rv has two MaxxAir Fan/Mates and I leave them open all camping season without ever having a drop of water come in. They are also open when we are driving.
The only time I close them a little is when it's cold in the fall and through winter storage.

The MaxxAir II has a larger vent side that is a little further away from the camper vent to give a little more protection against angle and bouncing raindrops. Love ours, lets the moisture and heat out, keep the rain out and as said before, one more level of hail protection. Not to mention I couldn't let my camper sit in it's "stock" configuration.

I see the Max Air is bigger, but I am not sure if big enough to stop heavy rain rebound. Looks like the louvers are similar and only stop incoming direct rain. Other then the extra distance, similar design as the ****ey CAMCO's.
I think since I already have these CAMCOS installed, I am sure I am smarter then the engineers that designed them. SO I will make a 100% rain droplet system, modifying what I have already.
I am thinking maybe a double mesh screen that I can fasten close behind the installed mesh. Or maybe a reverse set of louvers behind the front originals that way its covered from direct and indirect entry..will have some loss of air movement but....what ya do.....
