I want to upgrade my rims and tires. I've found the tires (Maxxis) now about the rims. Can I use car/truck rims or do I need to stay with "trailer" rims?

Check out www.trailerwheelsandtires.com to see what you can find. I would stay with trailer wheels due to the offset. But I am sure there will be other responses. You might also check out www.tredittire.com.

When I went from a ST225/75R/15D rated tire to a LT225/75R/16E rated tire, I had to change wheels. (also went with aluminum while I was at it) Tell them what they go on and make sure they are "zero" off set.

If you want to save some money and stay with some stock type rims, these are great. Rated for 2600 lbs. or an "E" rated tire. You didn't mention size, but these are 15".

Most car truck wheels have an "offset" which means that the wheel hub (where the lug holes are) is offset to one side of the rim plane. Trailer wheels, as far as I know, have a 0 offset which means that the hub is in the middle of the rim plane. You would not want to use an offset rim because of both clearance issues and loading issues on the wheel bearings or axles unless they were designed for it.

Bob, I believe that E rated tires are 3042#'s, not 2600.

Depends on the tire size for load capacity.
For steel wheels -Nuera Trailer Parts is pretty reasonable and better priced than the link posted already

I have 14" tires right now and want to upgrade to 15". When I asked the guy at my local Discount Tire what the psi was for the rims he was giving me a quote on........he said he didn't know. So I asked what if it doesn't match the psi on the Maxxis tire, and he said we'd find out when I ordered them? Not too happy with that answer.
