My TT has been at the shop for 5-6 weeks getting its shakedown fixes done. When I went to pick it up the battery was dead. I thought plugging into the truck would allow me to use the tongue jack, but didn't. Should it have worked plugged into the truck?

not sure about fords, but chevy (w/tow pkg) puts a dummy 40 amp fuze in the charge circuit for the TT. mine was in fuse box under the hood-------funny, found mine for the same reason-dropped off TT at dealer for work, was fixed when i went back to get it(fuse installed)

Just bought a 2011 F-150 and there was a fuse in my glove box to power the trailer battery circuit (12V?). The fuse box is just under the hood front and center and the spot where this extra fuse should go was blank, if you have the fuse just plug it in and you should be good to go. I think there's something in the manual about it.

I've put a amp meter on mine once, and found that on a completely discharged RV battery, that it was only taking 8 amps from the running truck. So it could take quite a long time to 'recover' a battery. It will recharge the battery much faster by plugging in the shore power cable and letting the RV charge the battery.

I had the same problem recently and had to attach a lever to my (dead) electric tongue jack to get it to go up/down by hand cranking.

Provided you truck has the correct fuse and relay installed AND the ignition key is in the ON position it should provide enough power to use the jack.

Fords' with factory trailer wiring have a relay that needs to installed. On my 2006 it is on the passenger side under the far right side of the dash. Also with Fords, the charging circuit is only on when the pickup is running.

Truck was running when I tried it and has factory tow package. I hooked it to shore power to hook it up to the truck. When I got home it was working, but slower than normal...so I hooked to shore power at home to take it off the truck. Not sure if the small charge it had was from the 15 mile trip home, or from having it hooked to shore power at the dealer. Guess I need to look for said fuse/relay.

Thanks,
Sean

Found these little gems in my glove box...

So now my question is, why the heck would they not already be installed?? Is there some sort of danger Ford it trying to avoid by NOT installing the fuse and relay?? I would think...factory tow package...the fuse and relay would be installed.
