Hey,
Thanks for the replies, makes good sense with those who have kids saves wear and tear and probably keeps the living room clean.
happy camping

My sister in law uses hers as a way to keep air conditioned air from getting out as quickly. It's also good for making sure little ones and dogs aren't able to get out as easily, keeping them from falling down the steps.

Yep, the 2nd door works great for the guests around the campfire and also for the kiddos when the return all dirtied' up!

PS - It's not hard to notice the lock also while sitting down!

Hi,
I noticed some new model travel trailers have a outside facing toilet door. As you can imagine I had a few laughs with DW on situations. i.e. playing jokes opening the door when sitting on the toilet for laughs. On a serious note, why on earth do they have a toilet door as an exit, is it a new regulation ?

It just seams an odd design. I've seen people ask the same questions at camping shows with no real reason other than some say it's an emergency exit door off the toilet. No offence to those who have these models just thinking what the reason behind the design.
When you let your imagination run it could produce some laughs
Most exit doors used to be off the living room, dining room, bedroom.

cheers, happy camping.

Ours has the exit or rear door off the bathroom. We like the idea of an escape door in case of emergency and it doesn't waste space. I plan to hang a curtain you can't see through over the bottom 3/4 of the door. I also plan to put a latch on the inside so no one can open the screen door from outside if someone's on the "pot."

I am only on the second season with my 2010 model, and have decided the next TT will have a second door leading to the bathroom from outside. I have three kids, and I swear they will wear out that poor screen door on our current trailer.

The funny thing is, the bathroom doors have screen doors too! This is possible the solution to neighbours with bright lights and people cutting through your site

This is a real convenience for us on long trips. We have the door to the bathroom in the rear. We don't have to put the slide out or walk through the TT to use the toilet when on the road. But with our TT, even with the slide in, the TT is usable, just a bit cramped.

I love my direct access bathroom. I once thought two doors on a TT was a waste of space, but it has been quite useful. We always take our shoes off before going in the camper, but not walking through it is nice. Access to the bathroom sink and cabinet without even going in (or taking off shoes) is nice. Seconds door when a kid is sleeping on the dinette bed is quieter. And it allows for plenty of space on the toilet.

If you keep the inside bathroom door closed, you can enter the bathroom from outside without letting your heat/air out of the TT. Also works as a good mud room for entering the TT...and if they are going to put two doors in the TT, having one in the bathroom makes the bathroom larger for us big folks. And lastly, forest river has had some problems with their locks. My deadbolt stuck once, and we don't have a second door. A friend of mine had his dead bolt stick and they just entered through the other door to get in.

We have a door in our bathroom. When we first saw this floorplan, we laughed and said "who, in their right mind, would want a door going in/out of the bathroom?" We, too, joked about who would be the first to provide the campground with a laugh when the door was yanked open and someone was sitting inside on "the throne". But as we continued to RV shop over the course of the next couple of years, we began coming back to that floorplan again and again. When we ran across it again, we realized that it would be perfect for our family. I (DW) am a plus-sized lady, and it provides plenty of room for me to shower/change, etc. We also like to use it when it's raining. We enter thru the bathroom and leave wet umbrella's in the tub to drain, damp shoes, wet clothing, etc. It also gives us room to enter with the dog when she's wet. We have room to towel her off, and if she decides to shake, it's not all over my couch, carpet, cabinets. It gives me a controlled space for a mess to occur. Also, we keep the dirty clothes hamper in the tub, and there is room to set it in front of the exit door when showering and it doesn't block access to the toilet. We just spend a week at Myrtle Beach. The kids would use the outdoor shower to rinse the sand off, then run around and go in thru the bathroom door to take off their wet suit and jump into the shower. When we first bought the TT, I did fashion curtains for the windows to provide extra privacy; the frosted glass just wasn't enough. I also labeled the lock positions on the door, so when you're sitting on the toilet you can easily see if the door is locked or unlocked. I would HIGHLY recommend a floorplan with this feature to a family with kids. We recently went to 2 different RV shows, and walked away still totally loving our floorplan. That's how WE know we have the right RV for us!

We love our bathroom door to the outside! all of the reasons above, not only direct access to the toilet but shower as well.
I aint going to lie, it's nice to have a little cool breeze at night into the toilet area, our site right now has a view of the lake and no other campers at all while sitting on the toilet.

Easy access to bathroom on the road, returning from the beach, kids can get to shower without going through camper. Just to name a few. We love it.
