I have often wondered about heat and noise problems in the rear bedroom.
When that diesel is running is there and increase in heat in the bedroom and especially in the bed?
Also on the road at highway speeds how bad is the sound level in the bedroom?
Now I know it is quieter up front but my wife usually sleeps in and I like driving in the early morning before daylight. If it is going to roast her out or the noise is not going to allow her to sleep than I of coarse am going to hear about it.
I think these things are better sorted out up front before a person makes the large expense of a diesel pusher and than one or the other can not live with the purchase.
Please share your experiences concerning the heat and noise and what rig you gained those experiences from.

Our bed runs east/west - that is, the headboard is in the slide. That puts the engine under the closet and the built up floor on the back side of the bed. The bed does not heat up at all although the noise is definitely there. It would not bother me but a test run would let your wife try it out in any you are considering. I expect some are noiser than others. Ours makes more of a steady, rumbling noise - ear plugs would take care of it easily.

We have a rear bath and closet and that area heats up significantly. The bedroom does not heat up at all, but if you have a true rear bedroom, it very well have the same situation my closet and bath area has. We don't run the very rear AC unit (out of the three) when traveling, so I don't know if running it would counteract the heat of the engine. The noise is also significant, though I would have no problem sleeping with it. The noise is not so much road noise, but the diesel engine itself and it will surge significantly, especially if you are changing speeds or traveling hills and mountains.

Are you thinking you'll set the cruise control and go take a nap?

Our closet is at the rear of the motorhome and heat will build in it when traveling. The bedroom too will heat some but only on hot traveling days. If we run the generator with the AC on, everything stays cool.
There will be a hum and vibration from the engine. We have never used the bed while traveling. Now, the sofa has been used for napping by the co-pilot.
Wherever the engine is located will be noisy with vibrations.

No heat but plenty of noise, specially when using the exhaust brake.

Absolutely no heat but with the new PRXB that I installed the noise is significant, but my son has no problem sleeping. He actually says the engine noise puts him to sleep.

If she is a light sleeper, then probably not as my DW has tried it several times and says she did not sleep but after three hours one morning I had to call her on her phone to make coffee. I've laid down back there and the engine/road noise is pretty load, but I'd be able to sleep. On a test drive go back and listen as it's the noise, not the heat I'd worry about.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

I notice the heat there after I stop----always have thought it was dumb to have the bed over a HOT engine.
