anyone know the best lubricant to put on the caliper pins fo brakes? I have a jar of Permatex ceramic brake lubricant (purple stuff)- I'm just not sure if it's exactly what I need for the pins and it does not say on the bottle. I read you are not supposed to use wheel bearing grease or lithium based grease- I think it's probably ok- but wanted to check- i will also check the Permatex website- just seeing if anyone else knows......

Permatex/loctite makes great products. Read the instructions. Be sure to use very sparingly.

Never used the permatex grease before so I can't offer an opinion. This clicky is what I use all the time,it works great. You can get it in almost any auto parts store. Just don't use any kind of regular grease,it will thicken in time and cause problems with the pins sliding and swelling of the rubber seals.

That grease will be fine and Ford also makes a grease for this that is reasonably priced.

I too like the CRC/Stalube synthetic brake lube linked above. I used the purple Permatex ceramic before the CRC -the Permatex seems to get gummy over time and the CRC product does not. I use this stuff a lot on off-road motorcycle brakes too. It holds up good to the heat and water washout.

I've seen anti-seize used in place of grease. Don't know why it wouldn't work also.

Any that is labeled 'high temp disc brake grease' will do...I also use anti-seize
with alu filler...not copper filler

Key is to grease them...often if the duty is severe

Have a hand grease gun with a hypo needle about 3" long and is loaded with moly
rich, high temp disc brake grease
