All you have to do to tow is to start engine, place trans in drive (I go all the way to 1,2,DR and Neutral, let it idle in neutral for 3 minutes, turn ignition switch to just where the engine stops, shut off the radio, etc. and tow it. Repeat every 400 miles. -- Chuck

We have a 04 Honda CRV and have been towing it since it was new. It's a great car to pull. We have had this car longer than any car we have ever owned just because we pull it behind the MH. We have 86,000 miles on it and it drives as good as when it was new. We were thinking of getting the new design for 2012 CRV but we may just stay with this one awhile longer. We have had people asking when we want to sell it. Just make sure you shift it through the way you are suppose to before you tow it.

Thanks all.
Toban: how often do you check the transmission fluid? Do you follow the procedure in the manual?

Thanks, I'll check it out. If I get a Roadmaster bracket kit, do I need to get a roadmaster tow bar?

Yes, I change the transmission fluid on the scheduled basis. I think it's every 3 years or 30,000 miles. I change all the fluids as normal.

We have had four toads. One was an automatic, AWD CRV. It would have to be our favorite. It towed well but I think the thing that made it so special was it versitility. I am sure it could not go where the Jeep could but the AWD was there for the three or four times we needed it. Never needed but we knew we had transportation in snow.
We have a Fit now but only because we have a smaller MH and attempted to minimize toad weight.
The biggest problem with a CRV is that it will induce maritial conflict as to gets to drive it everyday. I did not want to put miles on the pickup and neither of us wanted to drive the big car.
Everyone has their favorite toad. It is just a function of our personal needs and tastes. Just as between A's, C's, and B's, whats best for one is not for another. For us, the CRV was perfect.

Just a note on trans. fluid changes. The CRV does not have a conventional auto trans "pan" and replaceable filter. A fluid change consists only of a "drain & fill" - about 5 minutes work. The cost should be around 50-60 dollars, maximum. Always use Honda Fluid only. Honda says never use a flushing system, only the drain and fill method.
Because of the extra stress that 4 down towing can create, I change my fluid at 15K mile intervals - Really cheap insurance.
