Deadbolt and fold the assist handle over the door if you have one. The road bumps have popped open our door on several short trips when we thought we did not need to deadbolt the door.

Always have someone watch on the outside when the slide-out is deployed. We have a tape mark on our metal awning rod to judge the slide-out distance, its quick and easy.

Great post.

Happy Camping!

Basicaly light the stove burners first before trying to light anything else. This allows any air in the gas line to bleed out through the high volume stove burners. Once the stove is lit and burning well you can turn it back off and then go light the refrigerator and everything else.

My fridge always seems to light ok. It's my oven that's hard to light. I light a burner for a minute or so then light the oven. Same principle with fridge if it does not light!

After I light the burners, then I start up the furnace. It does a good job of purging the air out of the rest of the lines. Then both my hot water heater and fridge will work fine.

I was supposed to meet a friend of mine at a certain entrance to the interstate. He was an hour and a half late. It took him that long to get the fridge lit. It was after nearly an hour and a half that another friend of mine who was with him figured out there was air in the lines.

I have been on this forum for several years and this is about the best topic I have read. I would like to list all that I have learned here but I am 72 years old and might not have that much time left.
