I want to put a crank up satellite dish for Direct TV on my Class C Jamboree. Has any one done this? I am thinking about having it done professionally by CW or some other place. This what I am looking at.

Or maybeThis one.

Thank you in advance.

You still need to keep the regular ANT.
The dish will need to be on the center line of the roof. Where it is flat.

That's what I was going to say - keep the antenna. We just had a Trav'lr sat antenna installed and still have the analog antenna. When can't get satellite due to trees, might be able to get analog.

Keep the antenna as others have said infact you might want to invest a few bucks at CW and get a Winegard Wingman to attach to the antenna. Just a clarification: The old antenna did pick up analog signals (they are no more) but it also picks up the new digital signals and high definition digital signals being broadcast today. The Wingman will help pick up the some of the digital channels. How much ? ???

I'd consider a carry out dish unless you like parking in the sun

I installed the dish in your first link on our class C last year. You definitely want the one with the elevation sensor, which I see they now call "Digital Magic".

When we travel we are either enroute or out sightseeing every day, so the daily setting up and taking down the portable dish that we used before got to be a PITA. I have also found that the crank up dish is much easier to aim to find the satellite than the portable dish was.

Our Minnie came "satellite ready", which turned out to mean that all of the wiring needed for this dish was already in the roof. Winnebago sent me drawings as pdf files so I could find the proper locations to drill for the wires, etc. I did the install myself. Some pictures FYI.

You will always have to have a "clear" view of the southern sky (about 230 deg). It takes awhile to set the dish up and get a good signal. We never seem to find a place w a clear view.
Then once you move, you will have to set it up again. We use a portable Direct TV satellite that I can place it for a good view.

I installed a Winegard Trav'lr auto dish and have been delighted. I replaced a never used dish similar to what you are looking at. The reviews, a couple of years ago on what I had, were that it was not very stable in heavier winds and would lose signal. I believe they have redesigned the Dish Magic but you might look for reviews on it. For me, the extra $ to push one button and be done was worth it. Guess I am spoiled...............
