I want to get away from the heat and humidity of Illinois. I do not want to trade if for cold and damp. Spot checking the popular place in Alberta, it appears that temps are topping out at about sixty degrees F the rest of the month. Any suggestions for something a little warmer up that way?

I just looked at the temp for Plamondon ab. 61 degree F. My gr gr grandfather's brother started Plamondon along with others in 1908. The big lake nearby has gray pelicans. seemed a little different seeing them away from salt water.

Don't know where you were checking but current temp in Cold Lake ( NE Alberta) is 72f. Forecast for next 2 weeks (Weather Channel) is at or above norm. Actually right now it is warmer outside than inside. 72 is about norm for this time of year and will go to about 78 by end of month. Warmer in July / August. Humidity is usually low. Terrific park on Cold Lake with all services. Check Alberta Provincial Park site for details and other parks.

You are right, it has been a cool spring and the forecast for the next two weeks is not great. For some reason the Northern part of the province has been warmer than the south and as Stubblejumper says their forecast is much better. So, go north or maybe consider SE British Columbia. That side of the Rockies is usually warmer & often drier in the valleys but even their forecast is below normal.
I am referring to the Columbia Valley, Invermere to Cranbrook or further west to Creston or even Nelson. If you have not been there it is a very nice area, mountainous but not as spectacular as the National Parks.
A word of warning, Invermere & south area is Alberta's playground so may be busy. Reservations would be in order for Canada Day (July 1) period and possibly beyond.

I live in central Alberta - foothills. We had a campground evacuated a couple of weeks ago due to forest fire, and the town of Slave LAke - up north, burnt mostly to the ground. The May long weekend had a fire ban province wide.
So in short, some cold damp weather right now is a blessing.
The typical Alberta summer is dry, hot sunny. Ya don't sweat, it just evaporates.

The Columbia Valley ( East Kootenays) is cooler and has more wind than the West Kootenays and both areas have very little if any humidity. Two days ago it was 29c ( 88 f) in town, yesterday it was 15c ( 60f) in town. This has been a spring to remember.

And as for the Kootenays not being as spectacular as the National Parks , it is all in the eyes of the beholder.

I have reservations at The Great Canads Barn Dance in Hillspring, Alberta for the weekend of July 1,2, 3. After that I/we plan to head north.
